Börje – The Journey of a Legend (Börje) (Sweden)
This biopic drama is inspired by the remarkable true story of hockey legend and sports icon Börje Salming, including his struggles growing up in a small town in Sweden, finding his true love, and surviving the treacherous and violent 1970s hockey era. The late Börje Salming, who tragically passed away from ALS in November 2022, is one of the greatest legends of all time in ice hockey. He spent 16 years with the Toronto Maple Leafs, was the first European player inducted into the prestigious Hockey Hall of Fame, broke numerous records, captured the hearts of millions of fans, and paved the way for countless Europeans to forge careers in the NHL, the world’s best and toughest ice hockey league.
Starring as Börje Salming in the six-episode series is Valter Skarsgård (A Storm for Christmas, The Playlist, A Class Apart), along with Hedda Stiernstedt (The Restaurant, Beforeigners, Black Lake) as Börje’s wife, Margitta, and Jason Priestley (Beverly Hills, 90210, Wild Cards, Private Eyes) as legendary Toronto talent scout Gerry McNamara.

I Killed My Husband (J’ai tué mon mari) (France)
Erika Sainte (The Crimson Rivers) stars in this thriller as Anna, a wife and mother who, abused once again by her violent husband, Manuel (Antoine Gouy, Lupin), during yet another argument, commits the irreparable and admits to killing him. However, on the day of her indictment, her life is turned upside down once more when she learns that he is still alive and that their son is in danger. She has no choice, then, but to escape in order to look for him and protect her child.

The Art of Crime: Season 6 (L’art du crime) (France)
In Season 6 of this fan-favorite, art-centered mystery series, Police Detective Antoine Verlay (Nicolas Gob, A French Village) and renowned art historian Florence Chassagne (Éléonore Bernheim, Murder In…) investigate two new cases. The first involves the murder of a young woman, found in a photography studio where she was apparently murdered by the photographer while the latter was recreating a work by renowned Impressionist painter Édouard Manet. The second revolves around the discovery of a young woman’s corpse, found dressed as a vampire with a stake through her heart in a sarcophagus in the Catacombs, with a reproduction of the painting Vampire by Norwegian painter Edvard Munch placed near the body. Eurovision Song Contest 2024 (Europe)
It’s that time of year again, when nations from across Europe send their singing representatives to the annual continental song competition. This year’s event will be held in Malmö, Sweden, with 37 countries participating and actresses Petra Mede (Bonus Family) and Malin Åkerman (Billions) doing hosting duties for the two semifinals and the final, both live events. The Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will stream live in the US on Tuesday, May 7 (semifinal #1), Thursday, May 9 (semifinal #2), and Saturday, May 11 (final), starting at 3pm ET each day, exclusively on Peacock.
Gold Run (Gulltransporten) (Norway)
Set during World War II, this historical drama follows a top-secret mission that shaped a nation’s destiny. In April 1940, German soldiers descended upon Oslo with three targets: the King, the government, and Norway’s gold reserves. Cooking Up Murder: Uncovering the Story of César Román (El Rey del Cachopo) (Spain)
This three-part docuseries analyzes a murder case implicating César Román, a Spanish chef who built a career in the spotlight through a web of secrets and false identities. Román, a restaurateur known as “the king of cachopo” (cachopo is a dish similar to a cordon bleu from the Asturias region in the north of Spain), was arrested in November 2018 for the murder of Heidi Paz, his 25-year-old Honduran girlfriend, and the dismemberment of her body. He fled Madrid after these heinous crimes and got work in a restaurant in Zaragoza under a false identity. It was there that the police captured him after a three-month nationwide manhunt. The trial of Román made headlines across Spain; it culminated with a guilty verdict in 2021.

Past Lies (Las largas sombras) (Spain)
Based on the novel Las largas sombras by Elia Barceló, this thriller miniseries centers on a group of women whose stable, successful lives are suddenly shaken when a 25-year-old mystery is finally solved. It was all those years ago, when they were on their senior year trip to Mallorca, that one of them, Mati, disappeared. Fast forward: Mati’s remains are found in a cave, leading Police Inspector Paula Ríos (Irene Escolar, Dime Quién Soy: Mistress of War) to go to Mallorca, as Mati was her older sister.
At the same time, the group of friends is having a reunion after many years to welcome back Rita, now a famous film director who’s been living in London for the past 25 years. It’s all very nostalgic — until Paula shows up and tells them about the discovery…

Set against the backdrop of Rome during a blackout and fires, this crime thriller’s key characters are three retired gangsters, connected by their pasts, 16-year-old Manuel (Gianmarco Franchini), and corrupt cop Vasco (Adriano Giannini, Supersex). The story kicks off when Manuel, blackmailed by Vasco into getting incriminating pics at a hedonistic party, gets spooked and takes off — running to former mafioso Polniuman (Valeria Mastandrea, The Vertical Line), a friend of his demented ex-criminal father, Daytona (Toni Servillo, The Hand of God), for help. Polniuman, now blind, sends him to Cammello (Pierfrancesco Favino, Suburra), who’s just out of a prison and dying, to hide the boy. Meanwhile, Vasco is on the hunt for Manuel and will stop at nothing until he finds and kills the boy.

All This I Will Give to You (Tout cela je te le donnerai) (France)
Based on the award-winning and international best-selling novel All This I Will Give to You by CWA International Dagger Award nominee Dolores Redondo (“Baztán Trilogy”), this mystery drama limited series stars David Kammenos (Murderous Memories, The New Look) as Manuel Ortigosa, a renowned author whose husband, Aymeric Fabre de Castelmore (Alexis Loret, Magellan), died in what appears to have been a road accident in Provence. A tragedy, yes, but certain details don’t add up for Manuel, while others cause Police Lieutenant Richard Saugier (Bruno Solo, Perfect Murders, Murder In…) to believe foul play was involved.
All of this is compounded by the fact that Aymeric had bequeathed his entire estate, including the family’s winery and castle, to just Manuel — cutting out the rest of the Fabre de Castelmore family, who didn’t even know that Manuel existed. They include Aymeric’s mother, Cécile (Nicole Calfan, Gloria), the marquise de Fontaresse; his brother, Joffrey (Aurélien Wiik, Murder in…); Joffrey’s wife, Catherine (Louise Monot, Murder In…); and Elisa (Philypa Phoenix, Balthazar), the partner of Aymeric’s deceased younger brother, Enguerrand, and her young son, Arsène (Alexander Mari-McSween). With Richard’s help, Manuel embarks on a search of the truth, delving into the mysteries of this powerful family and unveiling the secrets of the past in the process, while Richard, with Manuel’s help, continues his investigations into the suspicious deaths of both Aymeric and Enguerrand.

Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever (Nattevagten – Dæmoner går i arv) (Denmark)
A follow-up to the 1994 thriller Nightwatch, this film follows 22-year-old medical student Emma (Fanny Leander Bornedal, Carmen Curlers), who has just taken the night watch job at the Institute of Forensic Medicine, the same place where her parents were nearly killed by the famed psychopathic police inspector Wörmer (Ulf Pilgaard, Borgen) almost thirty years ago. Those events led to her mother’s suicide, and her father, Martin (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Game of Thrones), has turned to tranquilizers to suppress the memories. Determined to find out exactly what happened to them, Emma tracks down and confronts Wörmer, only to unintentionally reawaken his bloodthirst and ignite his violent revenge on everyone who sealed his destiny years ago.

Based on characters created by Maj Sjöwall and Per Wahlöö in their “Martin Beck” novels, this classic Nordic noir crime drama returns with a new season. In the opener, police trainee Vilhelm Beck (Valter Skarsgård, The Sandhamn Murders) and his supervisor are called to a crime scene, where his finding of a dead body affects him deeply. In this mystery thriller miniseries, the Westminster Palace, an opulent beachfront hotel, is the setting for the engagement party of Lisa Marsac (Flore Bonaventura, Magellan), the daughter of the hotel’s powerful manager, Jade Marsac (Isabel Otero, Perfect Murders), who has been single-handedly running the place since her husband’s death. What should be a happy occasion turns out to be quite the opposite when Fabien Keller (Yoann Denaive, Blood of the Vine), an investigative journalist and Lisa’s beloved, is found brutally murdered in Room 327, lying next to the body of a high-class prostitute. With Lisa as the prime suspect, Captain Dechassey (Pierre Cassignard, Christophe’s Law) leads the investigation, and he soon discovers that this case is just the tip of the Westminster Palace iceberg.

Loosely based on the novel La vie et la passion de Dodin-Bouffant, gourmet by Marcel Rouff, this period drama follows the lives of Dodin Bouffant (Benoît Magimel, Pacifiction, The Piano Teacher) as a chef living with his personal cook and lover, Eugénie (Juliette Binoche, The English Patient, The New Look). They share a long history of gastronomy and love, but Eugénie refuses to marry Dodin, so the food lover decides to do something he has never done before: cook for her.

Darkness: Those Who Kill: Season 2 (Den som dræber – Fanget af mørket) (Denmark)
The second season of this Nordic noir crime thriller revolves around an unsolved case involving three young men who were killed within a few months. One of the victims was 18-year-old Markus, the only son of Alice (Solbjørg Højfeldt, The Dreamer – Becoming Karen Blixen), an old friend of criminal profiler Louise Bergstein’s (Natalie Madueño, Follow the Money, The Rain) mother. Diagnosed with terminal cancer, Alice contacts Louise and asks her to help find her son’s killer before she dies.
Louise delves into the case without hesitation and initiates an intense cooperation with the police. When another young man is found killed, she sees a distinct pattern, but what she overlooks is that she may have a personal connection to the killer, who turns out to be more intelligent and cynical than she dares to imagine. Louise desperately want to solve the mystery before there’s another next victim, but is she herself on the killer’s death list?
