Filming has started on the new Dutch comedy series Roosters (Haantjes), about four friends trying to survive in a “new era, new man” environment.

Jeroen Spitzenberger (Stanley H.), Waldemar Torenstra (Amsterdam Vice), André Dongelmans (Dirty Lines), and Benja Bruijning (Heirs of the Night) star in Roosters as Mike, Ivo, Daan, and Greg — four Dutch forty-somethings who all feel lost in the new world of empowered women. The series follow this tight-knit group of friends in the midst of their crisis of masculinity, during which each of them is desperately trying to salvage what’s left of their relationships and careers (in the funniest ways possible).

(Although this wasn’t in the announcement, it sounds very much like Roosters is the Dutch version of the hit Spanish series Alpha Males (Machos Alfa).)

A production of Hollands Licht, the series is written by Luuk van Bemmelen (Penoza) and Richard Kemper (Foodies), and directed by Anna van der Heide (Dirty Lines) and Anna van Keimpema (Happy Single).

Roosters is slated to premiere globally on Netflix in 2025. Stay tuned for updates.
