Netflix announced today its upcoming slate of new Polish series and films, which will premiere globally on the streaming service in 2024.

Following the Polish content debuts so far in 2024, including of the final season of period crime thriller The Mire, Season 2 of reality series Love Never Lies: Poland, the new mystery-crime drama series Detective Forst, and romantic comedy films Kill Me If You Dare and No Pressure, Netflix is set to bring viewers nine new titles from Poland this year, including four series and five films. (Dates are tba for most of them.)

Boxer (Bokser)

This period drama feature follows Jędrek (Eryk Kulm, Filip), a promising young boxer who, afraid of repeating his father’s mistakes, flees communist Poland to pursue his dream of becoming the greatest fighter in history. With only his wife in his corner, he realizes that the fight for his dream will be more complicated than he thought. After months of struggling with the hardships of being an immigrant, Jędrek agrees to participate in a fixed match that will change his life forever.

Colors of Evil: Red (Kolory zla. Czerwien)

Based on Malgorzata Oliwia Sobczak’s novel of the same name, this new crime thriller film opens with the discovery of the body of a young girl on a Tri-City beach. Leading the investigation is ambitious prosecutor Leopold Bilski (Jakub Gierszal, The Defence), who learns that the circumstances of this murder resemble a crime from fifteen years ago, but his supervisor refuses to let him reopen the closed case. So, Bilski decides to collaborate with the mother of the victim, Helena Bogucka (Maja Ostaszewska, Broad Peak), a judge who has been grappling with rebuilding her life after the loss of her daughter. United solely by their determination to uncover the truth, the duo embarks on a dangerous investigation that leads to one of the seaside nightclubs controlled by the local underworld.

Divorce

Magdalena Popławska (Prime Time) stars in this comedy about a formerly-married couple who decide to have their church wedding annulled, but not without obstacles in their way.

Go Ahead, Brother (Idź przodem, bracie)

In this new crime series, a member of an elite police tactical unit has to leave the force after suffering a panic attack during a major gang-related bust. To make matters worse, he learns that his father has committed suicide, leaving behind massive gambling debts. To stay afloat, he becomes a security guard at a clothes trading complex, where he spots a chance to solve his financial problems.

The series stars Piotr Witkowski (Absolute Beginners), Konrad Eleryk (Furioza), Mirosław Haniszewski (Forgotten Love), Jakub Wesołowski (The Resistance Fighter), Sebastian Dela (Mother’s Day), and Andrzej Popiel (Bunt). (You can set a reminder for it now.)

The Green Glove Gang: Season 2 (Gang Zielonej Rekawiczki)

Season 2 of this crime comedy sees the thieving Green Glove Gang decide to hang up their green gloves. But when Zuza’s son falls into trouble with a notorious gangster, the trio must come out from hiding and confront this adversary. Forced into action, they, along with befriended seniors, orchestrate one final heist: the National Gallery.

Inheritance (Spadek)

In this comedy feature, an eccentric inventor and gameshow host (Jan Peszek, Amok) suddenly passes away, and his family of bickering oddballs gathers with hopes of inheriting his fortune. To everyone’s surprise, their eccentric uncle prepared one last game for them to determine who would receive his inheritance — a series of tasks and puzzles that tests their ability to reconcile and work together.

Mothers of Penguins (Matki Pingwinów)

This new drama series follows a renowned MMA fighter who juggles her life between fights in the ring and raising her seven-year-old son. After an incident at the boy’s school, she is forced to transfer him to the “Wonderful Harbor,” a facility recommended by the school psychologist — a place where the students’ parents come from a completely different world than her own. Among them is a single father, an influencer, and a devoted mother who has sacrificed everything for her son. Initially, she is skeptical about the school, but after her son befriends one of the students, she must accept the new situation. However, it becomes apparent that “Wonderful Harbor” is not without its challenges, prompting the fierce instincts of the young mother to surface.

Napad

Set in the early 1990s, this film follows a discharged police officer (Olaf Lubaszenko, Hellhole) who is given a chance to reclaim his former life in exchange for capturing those responsible for a ruthless bank attack. With a young policewoman assigned to the case, he must act quickly, as media attention on the robbery is unwelcome by new authorities.

Project UFO (UFO)

Inspired by actual events, this 1980s-set drama miniseries follows two men in the aftermath of an alleged UFO landing in the remote countryside village of Truskasy in Warmia. The fading TV star and the extraterrestrial enthusiast embark on a quest to ascertain the extraterrestrial beings’ origins, drawing everyone within their orbit into their debate. As these two characters strive to persuade the world of their respective theories, a powerful politician exploits paranormal activity to seize power over the country.
