Although Adela is unaware that she is intersex, her condition shapes her life. An unexpected and beautiful friendship with the newly-arrived priest, Padre José María (Paco León, The House of Flowers, Queen of Coal), the return of a close childhood friend, and the arrival of a woman, Isabel (Anna Castillo, A Perfect Story, Her Majesty), trigger a chain reaction that takes Adela on a journey of self-discovery, from Pamplona to Madrid, where her identity will need the love and support of others in order to be revealed.

The Chestnut Man: Hide and Seek (Kastanjemanden) (Denmark)

After a 41-year-old woman is reported missing, the police start to unravel her digital footprints and find that she has been stalked for months. An unidentified perpetrator has been playing a game of hide-and-seek with her, surveilling her while sending her images and videos as well as a seemingly innocent nursery rhyme-style counting song. Then, when the woman is found murdered, it appears likely that this case can be linked to the unsolved murder of a 17-year-old high school student two years ago. The thing is, it’s unknown what the connection between the two victims is. Figuring that out is one thing; answering the question of if and when the perpetrator will “play” hide-and-seek again is another.

Costarring Sofie Gråbøl (The Killing, Prisoner) and Katinka Lærke Petersen (Baby Fever, When the Dust Settles), The Chestnut Man: Hide and Seek, a Netflix series, premieres globally on Thursday, May 7, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now.)
