This documentary is about Lukas Podolski, who rose from a street footballer to a world champion, from a child of Polish immigrants to “Prince Poldi” of Cologne, and made German football history and became a hero in the process. To this day, he remains one of Germany’s most beloved and authentic footballers. While still playing professionally in Poland, he’s also building a successful second career as a businessman.

The Marked Woman (La Desconocida) (Spain)

Based on the novel La Desconocida by Rosa Montero and Olivier Truc, this mystery thriller follows the investigation of a case led by Detective Anna Ripoll (Candela Peña, The Asunta Case, Furia), after a woman (Ana Rujas, In the Mud, The Vineyard) is found gagged and bound inside a container in the port of Barcelona, unable to remember who she is or how she got there. New Kid on the Beat (La Recrue) (France)

Set in Biarritz, this cop comedy series follows the unlikely crime-fighting duo of Kevin Lorin (Ethann Isidore, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny) and Captain Vincent Béraud (Thierry Neuvic, Mafiosa). Kevin, a cheeky, 18-year-old thief, gets recruited by Police Commissioner Trinquant (Judith El Zein, Inside) for an undercover operation to solve the murder of an employee at the Biarritz casino where Kevin was nabbed trying to steal a diamond. He’s paired with Béraud, an experienced officer and exceptional cop, who can’t stand having this unpredictable, out-of-control kid constantly underfoot. This docuseries follows the journey of Georgian-Spanish mixed martial artist Ilia Topuria, from the conquest of his first featherweight world championship belt to the present day. The three-part program features the two-time UFC world champion, his family, and those in his closest circle, as it documents his life inside and outside of the MMA caged fighting area.

Norway: The Dark Horse (Norway)

This docuseries offers an exclusive, inside look at one of football’s most emotionally-charged comebacks: the return of Norway’s men’s national team to a major international tournament after 26 long and painful years. Colors Of Evil: Black (Kolory zla: Czern) (Poland)

Adapted from Małgorzata Oliwia Sobczak’s best-selling novels, this film is the next chapter in the gripping crime saga that kicked off with Colors Of Evil: Red. In the new story, prosecutor Leopold Bilski (Colors Of Evil: Red, The Getaway King) is transferred to a seemingly peaceful town in Kashubia, where the disappearance of yet another child exposes dark secrets and long‑hidden, uncomfortable truths come to light. Opening in Madrid in 1969, this biopic/historical drama series follows Lola Gonzalez (Paula Usero, The Lady’s Companion), who begins her career as a lawyer while Franco’s dictatorship is nearing its end. Alongside fellow lawyers Cristina Almeida (Elisabet Casanovas, Merlí), Manuela Carmena (Irene Escolar, Dime Quién Soy: Mistress of War), and Paca Sauquillo (Almudena Pascual, Serve and Protect), she defends workers and democratic ideals in hostile courts.

This new drama series follows Filip (Ignacy Liss, Open Your Eyes, Forgotten Love), a young gay man who leads a party-centric lifestyle, heedless of the consequences the next day brings. Following a family tragedy in which his niece is left orphaned, he must rapidly transform his daily routine and confront systemic and cultural homophobia in order to gain custody of the child.

The Traveller: Season 3 (Le voyageur) (France)

This mystery-crime drama series stars Bruno Debrandt (Spiral, Caïn) as Yann Kandinsky, a retired police detective who, frustrated by the French judicial system, upends his way of life to help bereaved families get justice. Save Me (Sose me) (Greece)

Set in the atmospheric landscapes of northern Greece, this psychological thriller/crime drama follows Nikol Pomanou (Danai Skiadi, Echoes of the Past, The Last Island), a young woodcarver who returns to her hometown in Komotini for her father’s memorial. Shortly thereafter, her younger sister mysteriously vanishes. As Nikol begins to unravel the unsettling circumstances surrounding the disappearance, she teams up with a determined local detective, Despoina Loukidi (Elena Mavridou, Wishbone, Arcadia), whose own demons mirror the town’s buried secrets. Set in a post-apocalyptic world, this sci-fi horror movie centers on a group of nine survivors who find refuge in a deep underground bunker from which they cannot escape, lest they become victim to a threat they rarely speak of. Not that they’re necessarily safe here either, as they are hunted by the “Strangers,” men transformed into zombies by the enemy’s chemical weapons, as well as the malevolent specters called “Invisibles.” When food and medical supplies start running critically low, the group must abandon their safe zone to venture out to find provisions, awakening the forces lurking in the surrounding area in the process and turning their search into a fight for survival.

Set in the late 18th century, this period mystery-crime drama series stars Peter Eggers (The Breakthrough, Snabba Cash) as Johan Gustav Dåådh, a Swedish army surgeon who is appointed to the post of district commissioner by Stockholm’s chief of police, Carl Fredrik Wahlstedt (Johan H:son Kjellgren, Blinded, Miss Friman’s War). He accepts, and in so doing makes an enemy of Nordin (Richard Turpin, Spring Tide, The Fjällbacka Murders), the head of the prison, who wanted the position. With the help of his assistant, Simon Freund (Joel Spira, Thicker than Water, Top Dog), Dåådh investigates murders and other crimes committed in Sweden’s capital, while also dealing with his complicated relationship with Wahlstedt’s wife, Magdalena (Linda Zilliacus, Thicker than Water, Sthlm Requiem).

Monster (Norway)

Set in the small (fictional) town of Nemesoara in northern Norway, this crime thriller finds hometown gal and local policewoman Hedda Hersoug (Ingvild Holthe Bygdnes, Home for Christmas, Welcome to Utmark), recently returned from Oslo, put in charge of a murder case with special investigator Joel Dreyer (Jakob Oftebro, Stenbeck, Agent Hamilton). The two get on like oil and water, but have no choice but to work together to find a serial killer after they find a mass grave and discover this investigation is connected to historic missing persons cases.

Monster returns to streaming in the US on Thursday, June 25, on Viaplay on Prime Channels and other Viaplay partner channels.
