Nona and Her Daughters (Nona et ses filles) (France)

This comedy-drama limited series stars César Award winner Miou-Miou (Memoirs of a French Whore, Germinal) as 70-year old Elizabeth Périer, aka Nona, a family matriarch who runs a planned parenthood clinic in Paris. She’s also having a secret love affair with André (Michel Vuillermoz, UFOs). Then Nona discovers she’s pregnant (!) — but André isn’t the father (!).

Upon learning Nona’s news, her 44-year-old triplet daughters — Gabrielle (Clotilde Hesme, Lupin), Emanuelle (Virginie Ledoyen, 8 Women), and George (series director and co-creator Valérie Donzelli, Call My Agent!) — move back into the family apartment to support their mother and to unravel the mystery, all while trying to navigate their own hectic lives. The Tailor (Terzi) (Türkiye)

Çagatay Ulusoy (The Protector, Paper Lives) stars in this drama as Peyami, a young and famous tailor who inherited both talent and a successful business from his grandfather. Following his grandfather’s death, Peyami goes to Istanbul with Mustafa (Olgun Simsek, Cici), his mentally ill father — and Peyami’s biggest secret. As Peyami sews the wedding dress for Esvet (Şifanur Gül, As the Crow Flies), his best friend Dimitri’s (Salih Bademci, The Club) betrothed, Esvet, whom Peyami has never met, appears in his life with secrets of her own.

Delete Me: Season 2 (Norway)

In the second season of this award-winning drama series, Sanna (Sofia Tjelta Sydness, Ida tar ansva) is no longer the coolest kid in school. After being humiliated by her boyfriend, and with her plans to move to New York on ice due to Covid-19, she is working as a waitress in Oslo while dreaming of an influencer career on YouTube. Desperate for fame, Sanna follows advice from her favorite influencer and makes the fateful decision to sell intimate pictures of herself online. (Trailer is from Season 1)

Paradise: Season 4 (Il paradiso delle signore) (Italy)

Following on from the events in Season 3 of this hit romantic period drama, Season 4 opens with the staff of the Ladies’ Paradise excited about the visit from American entrepreneur Rockefeller, but then news of a Russian invasion of Hungary impacts the planned festivities at the department store. However, things turn positive again following a successful fundraiser at the store’s warehouse — although positivity doesn’t extend to everyone…

Paradise: Season 4 premieres in the US and Canada on Friday, May 5, exclusively on the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel and the Walter Presents digital channels.

Two Sides of the Abyss (Zwei Seiten des Abgrunds) (Germany)

This six-part crime thriller stars Anne Ratte-Polle (Enemies, Dark) as Luise Berg, a cop in Wuppertal who spirals out of control after her daughter’s killer is released early from prison. As the lines between guilt and innocence, perpetrators and victims, law and justice are blurred, a mysterious series of murders is taking place in the city.

Two Sides of the Abyss, a Max Original, premieres in the US, as well as select countries in Latin America and Europe, on Monday, May 8, exclusively on HBO Max and its digital channels, including HBO Max on Amazon, where available.

The Swan Company: Season 2 (La compagnia del cigno) (Italy)

This coming-of-age drama follows music prodigies at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan, as they struggle to find their independence while under the strict guidance of their orchestra’s director, who challenges them every day. (Video is from Season 1)

Dance Brothers (Finland)

This drama series centers on brothers Roni (Roderick Kabanga, Aikuiset) and Sakari (Samuel Kujala, Roba), who, in struggling to make a living as professional dancers, start a club that gives them a training space, housing and, above all, income to help finance their dance dreams. Their unique club and impressive dance routines quickly bring them fame, and soon their artistic ambitions and personal relationships collide with commercial demands. In a situation of business versus passion, the loyalty and love the brothers have for each other is tested by the one thing that always united them: dance.

The Congregation (Knutby) (Sweden)

This true-crime drama depicts events that occurred in the early 2000s within the Christian cult of Knutby in a rural small town in Sweden. Soon after Anna (Alba August, The Rain, Below the Surface), a naive young woman, moves to Knutby to become a part of the seemingly warm and pious community of the free church congregation as a nanny, she falls victim to the manipulation, power games, social exclusion, group pressure, brainwashing, fanaticism, and religiously-sanctioned left-wing chatter. Ultimately, things end in murder and grief.

Costarring Kristallen Best Actress award winner Aliette Opheim (Caliphate) and Einar Bredefeldt (The Unlikely Murderer), The Congregation premieres in the US on Thursday, May 11, exclusively on Viaplay.

Royalteen: Princess Margrethe (Norway)

Based on Royalteen Prince Charming, Book 2 in the “Royalteen” young adult novel series by Randi Fuglehaug and Anne Gunn Halvorsen, this drama picks up after the events in Royalteen. Princess Margrethe (Elli Müller Osborne, Ida Takes Charge) must keep the secret of what happened so as not to bring shame on the Norwegian royal family, but as drama starts piling up for them, Margarethe must find her footing and her own voice — not only as a princess, but also as a young woman looking for love.

Honour: Season 3 (Heder) (Sweden)

The third season of this gritty legal-crime drama opens with a terrorist act connected to the incel subculture, as the four partners of Stockholm law firm Heder (translation: Honour) — Nour (Alexandra Rapaport, Gåsmamman), Karin (Eva Röse, Maria Wern), Janni (Anja Lundqvist, Alex), and Elin (Julia Dufvenius, Blinded) — face unprecedented personal risks and ethical dilemmas. Their commitment to defending women’s rights and society’s most exploited people is stronger than ever; what’s uncertain is whether their ideals can survive the secrets of the past and the challenges of the present.

Alice Nevers: Season 4 (France)

Marine Delterme (Coco Chanel) and Jean-Michel Tinivelli (Murder in Tahiti) return as criminal prosecutor Alice Nevers and her personal and professional partner, police captain Fred Marquand, in ten new episodes of this crime drama, derived from the long-running series Le juge est une femme. La Chica Invisible (The Invisible Girl) (Spain)

Set in the (fictional) town of Cárdena in Andalusia, this mystery thriller follows two investigations into the murder of 17-year-old Aurora at the high school during the town’s festivities. The official one is led by Civil Guard lieutenant Miguel Ángel (Daniel Grao, HIT), while his daughter, Julia (Zoe Stein, Merlí. Sapere Aude), Aurora’s classmate, leads the informal one. Father and daughter will have to put their tense relationship and differences aside if they are going to find the killer amongst a town full of suspects.

La Chica Invisible premieres in the US on Tuesday, May 16, exclusively on Hulu.

Homicide Hills: Season 2 (Mord mit Aussicht) (Germany)

In this long-running crime comedy series, Detective Sophie Haas (Caroline Peters, Tatort) is transferred from Cologne to the (fictional) rural town of Hengasch in the Eifel mountains, where she leads a police force of two officers — Sergeant Dietmar Schäffer (Bjarne Mädel, Crime Scene Cleaner) and Officer Barbel Schmied (Meike Droste, Tatort: Cologne). Bummed at the lack of cases, Haas pursues every tiny lead for every small infraction. When actual crimes and murders happen, Haas is at her best and her happiest, while her officers get to do some real police work, even if Haas has to show them how. (Trailer is from Season 1)

Faithfully Yours (Netherlands)

Awake (Kljun) (Serbia)

In this award-winning mystery-crime drama series, Topic’s first production from Serbia, Sonja Kljun (Ivana Vukovic, Celts), a young, ambitious, cold-yet-caring detective, is sent from Belgrade to the sleepy town of Subotica to investigate a seemingly open-and-shut case. But Sonja’s instincts tell her the alleged suicide of a local crime boss’s son in the Serbian capital of suicides isn’t as simple as the Subotica police make it out to be. As she uncovers a sinister conspiracy in the heart of the community, Sonja must also face her own childhood traumas and seek evidence in an unlikely place: the prophetic dreams of her 10-year-old daughter, who has joined her while her husband participates in a television reality show.

This reality/docuseries series follows influencers Chiara Ferragni (Chiara Ferragni Unposted) and Fedez (LOL: Last One Laughing Italy), giving viewers a behind-the-scenes look into the lives of one of the most followed couples online. (Trailer is from Season 1)

Live Life (Leva Life) (Sweden)

Based on the life and experiences of Swedish journalist Lovisa Ström, this drama series revolves around Nora (Hanna Ardéhn, Quicksand), a happy and popular twenty-something woman with a journalism degree and her first professional job at a gossip magazine in Stockholm. With her friends Alina (Doreen Ndagire, Toppen) and Doris (Tina Pour Davoy, The Congregation), Nora’s life looks bright — until she’s diagnosed with cancer, leading her to lead a double life of celebrity gossip and cancer treatments until she can no longer keep the disease a secret from family and friends and pretend everything is fine.

Astérix & Obélix: The Middle Kingdom (Astérix & Obélix: L’Empire du Milieu) (France)

This new “Astérix & Obélix” adventure comedy film stars Guillaume Canet (Tell No One) and Gilles Lellouche (The Stronghold) as Gallic heroes and forever friends Astérix and Obélix (instead of Christian Clavier and Gérard Depardieu). The story sees the pair journey to China to help the Princess save the Empress and her land from a nefarious prince.

Muted (El silencio) (Spain)

This mystery-crime drama series revolves around Sergio Ciscar (Arón Piper, Elite), a young man who spent six years behind bars for killing his parents when he was a minor. Since his parents’ deaths, Sergio hasn’t spoken a single word to anyone, and his motivations for the crime remain a mystery. After he is released early from prison, his movements and actions are tracked, even at the home, where surveillance cameras are set up.

Conducting the daily monitoring and behavioral analysis of Sergio are psychiatrist Ana (Almudena Amor, The Grandmother) and her team, who must determine his current psychological state and the level of danger he poses. One thing Ana didn’t count on is the appearance of Marta (Cristina Kovani, If Only) in Sergio’s life. If Marta gets him to open up, it would be a breakthrough. So Ana enlists Marta’s help — despite the danger that she puts the girl in with the known murderer.

Spy/Master (Romania)

Set during the height of the Cold War, this six-part espionage drama covers a week in the life of Victor Godeanu (Alec Secăreanu, God’s Own Country, Ammonite, Happy Valley), the right-hand man and closest advisor to Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu. But Godeanu is also a secret agent for the KGB and must escape Romania and Ceaușescu before his cover is blown. With only one shot at staying alive, he uses a diplomatic trip to Germany as a springboard to the United States. Meaning of Life (Meningen med livet) (Sweden)

This warm and darkly-humorous dramedy series tells the story of Alva (Celie Sparre, The Truth Will Out), her sister Ellen (Helena Af Sandeberg, Dough), and their families. Alva wants nothing more than to become a parent with her boyfriend, Nico (Hannes Fohlin, The Restaurant), but it’s just not happening. Meanwhile, Ellen has three children with husband Alex (Ulf Stenberg, Love Me) — and dearly wishes she hadn’t.

This crime thriller centers on a police task force that specializes in murder cases involving unidentified victims. Riding in Darkness (Nattryttarna) (Sweden)

Loosely based on true events that occurred in the 1990s, this drama thriller follows three women with different connections to one man: equestrian center riding instructor Tommy Lund (Jonas Karlsson, Beck, Sthlm Requiem). All of them need to find a way to get out of this monster’s grip, but will their families and the police believe them, or will Tommy manipulate everything in his favor once again?

Riding in Darkness premieres in North America on Thursday, May 25, exclusively on Viaplay.

Blood & Gold (Germany)

Set in the final days of World War II in 1945, this action comedy-drama follows Heinrich (Robert Maaser, Barbarians, Tribes of Europa), a German soldier who deserts his post to return home to his daughter, but stumbles into the clutches of a marauding SS troop led by Von Starnfeld (Alexander Scheer, The Island). Left hanging in a tree, Heinrich is saved by Elsa (Marie Hacke, Bauhaus, Outlander), a courageous young farmer who hides him on her farm.

Meanwhile, the SS troop searches for a Jewish treasure hidden in a nearby village, but encounters bitter resistance from the fed-up villagers, who want to keep the treasure for themselves. Soon Heinrich and Elsa are dragged against their will into the action-packed hunt for the gold — culminating in a bloody showdown at the village church.

Rosy Abate: Season 2 (Italy)

Opening six years after the events in Season 1, the final season of this crime drama sees Rosy (Giulia Michelini, Anti-Mafia Squad, Dark Forest) released from prison and reunited with her son, Leonardo (Vittorio Magazzù, The Bad Guy, The Promised Life), in Naples. But the innocent child she remembered has grown into a restless and tormented young man who gets entangled with mobsters, forcing Rosy to do what needs must to save her son from a future in crime or one in an early grave.

The young ones’ obsession with religion and literal interpretation of the Bible soon disturbs the couple.

Turn of the Tide (Rabo de Peixe) (Portugal)

Under Law and Grace (Prière d’enquêter) (France)

Consisting of four feature-length episodes, this murder mystery series revolves around the cases investigated by two people on opposite sides of religion: Police Captain Elli Taleb (Sabrina Ouazani, The Hookup Plan), a self-described atheist (and primary caregiver for her younger siblings), and Brother Clément Desmoulin (Mathieu Spinosi, Guyane), a novitiate who has spent most of his life in a monastery and is also a criminologist.

Who Will Take Care of Jacques? (Qu’est-ce qu’on va faire de Jacques?) (France)

The latest addition to MHz’s telefilm anthology series is this drama, which centers on three siblings — Louise (Maud Wyler, Irma Vep), Fabien (Pascal Rénéric, The Traveller), and Estelle (Claude Perron, Big Bug) — who feel helpless in the face of having to care for their brother, Jacques (Vincent Deniard, Captain Marleau), a schizophrenic, after their father’s death.

Mixed by Erry (Italy)

Set in the 1980s, this comedy tells the true story of aspiring DJ Enrico “Erry” Frattasio (Luigi D’Oriano, What a Beautiful Surprise) and his brothers, Peppe (Giuseppe Arena, La febbre) and Angelo (Emanuele Palumbo, Nostalgia), who bring pop music to young people in Naples by smuggling self-made mix-tapes. Surprisingly, they become powerful record producers. Not surprisingly, they become wanted by the law.

Without a Trace (Immerstill) (Austria)

Based on the novel Immerstill, Book 1 in the five-book crime novel series by Roman Klementovic, this mystery-crime drama follows Lisa Schiller (Christina Cervenka, Pagan Peak), a young woman who left her hometown to start a new life in Vienna. When her younger sister, Marie, and her friend, Natalie, disappear, Lisa returns to Immerstill and teams up with her ex-boyfriend to search for them — but before she can follow up a real lead, a dead girl is found by the river. As Lisa delves deeper into the mystery of her sister’s disappearance, she uncovers a web of violence and abuse that has been kept hidden in the village for years.

Without a Trace has its US linear debut on Friday, May 26, at 9 PM ET, on Eurochannel.

Suriname (Netherlands)

This suspense drama centers on Winston Righter (Rodney Lam), Suriname’s Minister of Natural Resources, who decides to run for president in the upcoming elections. Also running is Cleo Bellamie (Rosita Dameri), the biological daughter of his foster mother. But when an old acquaintance from his criminal past demands payment for an old debt, Winston’s life is turned upside down and he is forced to confront his demons.

Suriname has its US linear debut on Saturday, May 27, at 8:30 PM ET, on Eurochannel.

The Curse (Vier) (Austria)

In this mystery thriller, the corpses of three infants are found buried in the old, abandoned Trummler family house, prompting Marion Reiter (Regina Fritsch, Corsage), a detective from the St. Pölten homicide squad, and Ulli (Julia Franz Richter, Murder by the Lake), an inexperienced local cop, to delve into the old rumors about the Trummlers. Meanwhile, Benjamin (Manuel Rubey, The Team) and Matthias (Laurence Rupp, Barbarians), the home’s new owner and his partner, have moved in, unaware of and unbothered by the macabre history of the house — until the shadows of the past catch up to them. The Curse has its US linear debut on Sunday, May 28, at 9 PM ET, on Eurochannel.

Robin (Ura) (Denmark)

Rosalinde Mynster (Seaside Hotel) stars in this mystery thriller film as the titular woman, found traumatized in a forest, claiming to have witnessed a murder. The police investigate but find no evidence of her story. Convinced that she is the next victim, Robin launches her own investigation and tries to find the murderer before he finds her. As she gets closer, the truth is finally revealed, along with severe consequences that will change everything.

Robin begins streaming Monday, May 1, on Viaplay.

Jackpot (Arme Riddere) (Norway)

Based on a story by best-selling author Jo Nesbø (Headhunters), this action-comedy crime film centers on Oscar (Kyrre Hellum, Wisting), who wakes and finds himself clenching a shotgun, covered in blood, and surrounded by dead bodies in a strip club. Despite how it all looks, Oscar maintains his innocence as he recalls the misfortunes he has experienced since winning over a million kroner on a soccer bet.

Costarring Mads Ousdal (Wisting) and Henrik Mestad (Occupied), Jackpot begins streaming in the US and Canada on Thursday, May 4, on Topic and its digital channels, including Topic on Amazon.

Nadia Nadim – Gamechanger (Denmark)

This two-part documentary follows Danish footballer Nadia Nadim through one of the most challenging periods in her life, when she has to retrain after an injury while, at the same time, standing up for her attitudes in order to keep her place on the Danish national football team. Nadia Nadim – Gamechanger begins streaming in the US on Wednesday, May 10, on Viaplay.

Tell No One (Ne le dis à personne) (France)

Based on the novel Tell No One by best-selling author Harlan Coben, this multi-award-winning mystery thriller centers on Alexandre (François Cluzet, The Intouchables), a widower still mourning the death of his wife, Margot (Marie-Josée Croze, Into the Night), who was murdered eight years ago. When he gets an email with current footage of his wife alive and well, he also learns that he is being framed for the murder of two other people…

Tell No One begins streaming Thursday, May 11, on Topic and its digital channels, including Topic on Amazon.

Solo: Season 2 (Italy)

Picking up where the Season 1 finale left off, the final season of this action-packed crime drama sees undercover cop Marco “Solo” Pagan (Marco Bocci, Made in Italy, Anti-Mafia Squad) disobey police orders in order to save Agata Corona (Carlotta Antonelli, Suburra: Blood on Rome), his wife and the daughter of mob boss Antonio Corona (Renato Carpentieri, The Hand of God), as she has been kidnapped for a ransom of 25 million euros.

Things get more complicated when Antonio asks Marco to get his son, Bruno (Peppino Mazzotta, Detective Montalbano) — the only person in the Corona clan who knows Marco is a cop — out of prison. Bruno is losing his sanity and wants everyone he considers his enemy dead, including Marco, while inter-family mafia conflicts continue and the body count rises.

Solo: Season 2 begins streaming in the US and Canada on Friday, May 12, on the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel and the Walter Presents digital channels.

Murder in Sweden (Maria Wern) (Sweden)

Better known to longtime Euro TV fans as Maria Wern, this long-running Nordic noir mystery-crime drama series, based on the “Maria Wern” novels by Anna Jansson, stars Eva Röse (Honour, The Days the Flowers Bloom) as Maria Wern, a widowed mother of two and the Deputy Commissioner of the Gotland Police. As such, she leads the team in investigating murders and other serious crimes on Sweden’s largest island, while trying to balance her work with her personal and home life. Murder in Sweden begins streaming in the US and Canada on Friday, May 19, on the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel and the Walter Presents digital channels.
