Folks who are big into action-crime thrillers, with their dramatic chases and near-misses and bad guys doing bad things to good people, the trailer for The Takeover ticks all those boxes, so hopefully the full film will be equally as intriguing and heart-racing as the preview.

The story follows Mel Bandison (Holly Mae Brood, All You Need Is Love), a self-proclaimed ethical hacker who stops a data breach for a high-tech, self-driving bus. Doing this might’ve been good for the tech company, but it becomes a nightmare for Mel, as she had unintentionally shut down an international criminal network at the same time.

So now the criminals target Mel by posting a deepfake video to frame her for a murder she didn’t commit. With her life turned upside down, Mel goes on the run, pursued by both the criminals and Interpol through a city where there is a camera on every street corner. She goes into hiding with Thomas Deen (Géza Weisz, F*ck Love Too), a one-time blind date who unwittingly becomes embroiled in the chase. But hiding isn’t enough: Mel also seeks out her old mentor, Buddy Benschop (Frank Lammers, Undercover), in order to prove her innocence.

The Takeover, a Netflix Film, premieres globally on Tuesday, November 1, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now.)

Costars in the film include Noortje Herlaar (The Oldenheim 12), Walid Benmbarek (Mocro Maffia), and Susan Radder (Women of the Night).
