Netflix announced today La desconocida, a new mystery-crime thriller film from Spain.

Filming has started on La desconocida (literal translation: The Unknown), which stars Candela Peña (The Asunta Case, Hierro), Ana Rujas (The Messiah, The Vineyard), and Pol López (See You in Another Life, Heirs to the Land). The cast also includes Manolo Solo (30 Coins, The Legacy of the Bones) and Kira Miró (Alpha Males, Headless Chickens), amongst others.
The film, adapted from the eponymous novel by Rosa Montero and Olivier Truc, tells the story of a woman (Ana Rujas) who is found gagged inside a container at the port of Barcelona by the police. Unable to remember her identity, she is taken to the hospital, where her life is once again in danger following an attempted murder. Detective Anna Ripoll (Candela Peña) is assigned to investigate this mysterious case alongside officer Quique Zárate (Pol López), who, together, embark on a race against time to discover the identity of this enigmatic woman and the secrets hidden within her memory.
A production of K&S Films (The Eternaut, Wild Tales), the movie will be shot in Barcelona and Algeciras, with Gabe Ibáñez (Muted) directing and Matías Mosteirín and Pola Zito executive producing. The writer is Lara Sendim (The Last Night at Tremore Beach).
The premiere date for La desconocida has not been set yet. Stay tuned for updates.
