Netflix announced today The Storm, a new comedy film from Sweden.

Written and directed by and co-starring filmmaker and actress Josephine Bornebusch (Love Me, Let Go, Baby Reindeer), The Storm is about what happens when a group of friends get trapped together by, what else, a raging storm.
It all kicks off with Filip inviting his closest friends for his 45th birthday dinner at his and his wife’s lavish, newly-purchased farm estate up north in Sweden. Clearly, none of them bothered to check the weather forecast because, unbeknownst to them, a fierce storm is headed their way. When it arrives, it traps them on the estate and triggers much drama amongst the hosts and guests.
Polished acts fall. An unfiltered meltdown starts. And panic creeps in. As they all realize the seriousness of the situation, secrets start spilling out, the farm seems to be shrinking, and unexpected emotions begin bubbling up to the surface in the confined space.
In addition to Josephine Bornebusch, the star-studded cast includes Gustaf Skarsgård (Oppenheimer, Vikings), Aliette Opheim (Thicker than Water, Caliphate), Filip Berg (Bäckström, Black Lake), Jonas Karlsson (Beck, Riding in Darkness), Johan Rheborg (The Glass Dome, Agatha Christie’s Hjerson), Christopher Wagelin (Ronja the Robber’s Daughter, The Truth Will Out), Sara Shirpey (Top Dog, State of Happiness), Gizem Erdogan (Thin Blue Line, Love & Anarchy), Henrik Dorsin (Triangle of Sadness, Sunny Side), Nils Wetterholm (Young Royals, The Congregation), and Nicole Levin (Barracuda Queens, Quicksand).
A production of Warner Bros. International Television Production Sweden, the film is produced by Sofie Palage and executive produced by Johan Hedman.
With filming complete and post-production in progress, The Storm is set to premiere globally on Netflix in 2026 (date tba). Stay tuned for updates.
