For Jojo is a friendship and coming-of-age drama that centers on Jojo (Nina Gummich, Charité, The Last Word) and Paula (Caro Cult, Biohackers, Babylon Berlin), inseparable, longtime friends who are enjoying their lives to the max as single young women in Berlin — until Jojo falls head over heels for a guy from her hometown and decides to build a future with him, far from Berlin and from Paula.

This new situation puts their friendship to the test, collapses Paula’s world, and begins a dark time for her. Angry and offended, Paula tries to rebuild her life on her own, without her longtime soulmate. But scarred by the pain of separation from her better half and driven by the fear of loneliness, Paula does everything she can to prevent Jojo from making what might be the biggest mistake of her life — stopping at nothing to win Jojo back, drive a wedge between the happy couple, and sabotage their wedding.

Following its world premiere at the 39th Munich International Film Festival on June 24, For Jojo premieres globally on Monday, July 11, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now.)

Also featuring in the cast are Steven Sowah (Never Too Late for Justice), Anne Zander (Tatort: Borowski), Louis Nitsche (The Four of Us), Tristán López (Barcelona Crime), Pascal Houdus (Helen Dorn), and Iskander Madjitov (The Queen’s Gambit).

A production of Oberon Film GmbH and Netflix, the drama is directed by Barbara Ott, written by Stefanie Ren, and produced by Alexander Funk.
