Netflix has set the global premiere date for Clark, the Swedish biopic-crime drama series starring Bill Skarsgård as Swedish bank robber Clark Olofsson.

Clark Olofsson, the notorious criminal whose actions inspired the expression “the Stockholm syndrome,” is the central character of the new Netflix Original series Clark, which premieres globally on Netflix on Thursday, May 5. (You can set a reminder for it now at www.netflix.com/clark.)

The fictional drama series stars Bill Skarsgård (It, Castle Rock, Hemlock Grove) as Clark Olofsson, and follows the criminal on his life journey as he fooled all of Sweden to fall in love with him, despite several counts of drug trafficking, attempted murder, assault, theft, and dozens of bank robberies.

Based on the truths and lies revealed in Clark’’s autobiography Vafan var det som hände, and directed by Jonas Åkerlund (Lords of Chaos), the series provides a fictional take on one of the most controversial personalities in contemporary Swedish history.

A production of Scandinavian Content Group, the series is written by Jonas Åkerlund, Fredrik Agetoft (Arne Dahl), and Peter Arrhenius (Conspiracy of Silence). The producers are Börje Hansson and Julia Stannard, the executive producers are Hans Engholm, Jonas Åkerlund, and Bill Skarsgård, and the line producer is Birna Paulina Einarsdottir. The series’ music is by Mikael Åkerfeldt.
