Coming to MHz Choice next month are a few new crime drama series and seasons from Belgium, Finland, France, Italy, and Norway. Check ’em out!

Crime might not pay in real life, but on telly, crime stories absolutely pay off, as they can attract viewers by the millions. So, MHz Choice is bringing two brand-new mystery-crime drama series to folks in the States and north of the border in October, plus new seasons of three more detective dramas. There’s also the English-dubbed version of two titles, one a cop drama, the other not.
But wait, there’s more! In addition to the Euro TV titles, MHz Choice is also premiering Donkerbos, a mystery thriller series from South Africa, and Mercy on Us, a crime drama/psychological thriller series from Argentina, in October. Read about Donkerbos here and Mercy on Us here.

NEW EURO TV SERIES & SEASONS
Cassandre: Season 3 (France)
This crime drama series follows Florence Cassandre (Gwendoline Hamon, Fatal Reunion, Perfect Murders), a devoted mother and skilled cop who left Paris for a new job as the police chief in the town of Annecy, located in the beautiful Haute-Savoie region, in order to be near her son. In Season 3, she and her team investigate the murders of a nurse, a student, a customs officer, and a soldier. (Video is from Season 2)
Costarring Alexandre Varga (Pacific Criminal), Dominique Pinon (The Island of Thirty Coffins), and Jessy Salomée Ugolin (Love and Trouble in Paris), Cassandre: Season 3 premieres Tuesday, October 7.
The Hanko Murder (Murha Hangossa) (Finland)
Set against the backdrop of the picturesque Finnish coastal town of Hanko, this ten-episode crime drama series revolves around a father-daughter duo and a mysterious murder. Ruben Waara (Matti Ristinen, All the Sins, Attack on Finland) is a charismatic 50-year-old bachelor who sells his company and returns to his hometown in Hanko for the summer. But on the day of his arrival, his estranged daughter, Vera (Mimosa Willamo, Deadwind, Roba), a police detective, is focused on something more pressing than reestablishing their relationship, as she finds herself embroiled in a complex murder investigation.

Costarring Aku Sipola (Made in Finland), Anu Sinisalo (Bordertown), and Ville Myllyrinne (Freezing Embrace), amongst others, The Hanko Murder premieres Tuesday, October 14.
Public Enemy: Season 3 (Ennemi Public) (Belgium)
Opening just after the conclusion of Season 2, the third and final season of this crime drama series sees the search for the kidnapped women continuing, with police detective Chloé Muller (Stéphanie Blanchoud, Spiral) as determined as ever to find her sister, Jessica (Pauline Etienne, Into the Night). Still assisting in the investigation is Guy Béranger (Angelo Bison, Atlas), the convicted child murderer-turned-novitiate who is now Brother Guy. With his new status at the Vielsart Abbey, he is free to come and go as he pleases, which maybe isn’t such a good thing… (Video is from Season 2)
Costarring Jean-Jacques Rausin (Into the Night), Clément Manuel (Ganglands), and Philippe Jeusette (Spiral), Public Enemy: Season 3 premieres Tuesday, October 14.
Catch and Release (Norway)
Set in the far north of Norway, this Scandi crime thriller revolves around several villagers whose lives are rocked by the murder of a seemingly well-liked local man. They include the dead man’s daughter, Erika (Kristine Hartgen, Narvik), a doctor; Irja (Anitta Suikkari, Blackwater), a policewoman; Thomas (Alexander Rindestu), a tour guide; Chris (Bhkie Male, Beforeigners), and nurse; and Mira (Cora Karlberg, Outlier), a local teen.

Cotarring Jesper Malm (Ragnarok), Zoe Winther-Hansen (Outlier), and Daniel Karlsson (The Machinery), amongst others, Catch and Release premieres Tuesday, October 21.
Petra: Season 2 (Italy)
Based on the best-selling novels by Alicia Gimenéz-Bartlett, this crime drama follows the ingenious and unconventional Petra Delicato (Paola Cortellesi, There’s Still Tomorrow), a police detective who, along with her old-school-policeman partner, Antonio Monte (Andrea Pennacchi, Suburra), investigates violent crimes in Genoa. In Season 2, they delve into the murders of a lawyer, a homeless man, a shellfish farmer, and a pimp. (Video is from Season 1)
Costarring Antonio Zavatteri (The Bad Guy), Riccardo Lombardo (Thou Shalt Not Kill), and Simone Liberati (Suburra), Petra: Season 2 premieres Tuesday, October 21.
Carlo & Malik: Season 3 (Nero a metà) (Italy)
This crime drama follows Inspector Carlo Guerrieri (Claudio Amendola, Lampedusa, Suburra), a stubborn and rebellious veteran police officer in Rome, and his partner, Malik Soprani (Miguel Gobbo Diaz, Zero, B-52), an ambitious and brilliant young deputy inspector who was born in the Ivory Coast and raised in Rome. In Season 3, they and the team at the Monti police station investigate the murders of a reintegration center manager, a notary, and a lawyer, amongst other crimes. (Video is from Season 2)
Costarring Rosa Diletta Rossi (Suburra: Blood on Rome), Margherita Vicario (The Temptation), and Alessandro Sperduti (The Leopard), Carlo & Malik: Season 3 premieres Tuesday, October 28.
ENGLISH-DUBBED VERSIONS OF EURO TV SERIES
State of Happiness: Season 1 (Lykkeland) — English dub (Norway)
Set against the backdrop of the birth of Norway’s oil industry, this period drama follows four young adults whose lives are forever changed by the discovery of black gold in the country. It opens in the summer of 1969 in the small coastal town of Stavanger, where the international oil companies that have been test-drilling but coming up empty-handed for years are pulling out. With the North Sea being fished out, the exodus of oil companies is leaving the town in a desperate state. But then, on the night of Christmas Eve, the gas flare at the oil rig Ocean Viking is lit, and everything is about to change. (Video is subtitled, not dubbed.)
Starring Anne Regine Ellingsæter (Rede), Amund Harboe (Salsa), Malene Wadel (Evy & Alltid), and Bart Edwards (The Witcher), the English-dubbed version of State of Happiness: Season 1 premieres Tuesday, October 7.
Deadly Tropics: Season 3 (Tropiques criminels) — English dub (France)
This fun, female-driven police dramedy mystery series follows detectives Mélissa Sainte-Rose (Sonia Rolland, Murder in the Somme) and Gaëlle Crivelli (Béatrice de la Boulaye, The Returned) as they investigate crimes in sun-drenched Martinique. (Video is subtitled, not dubbed.)
The English-dubbed version of Deadly Tropics: Season 3 premieres Tuesday, October 21.
