North American streaming service MHz Choice has announced its lineup for November 2021, which includes new and returning series, including fan favorites.
This November, international TV streaming service MHz Choice will premiere five Euro TV series — one each from Belgium, France, Germany, Iceland, and Italy. Also arriving next month are new seasons of shows from France and Denmark, plus more French titles under the streamer’s “Movie of the Week” series. The complete schedule is below.
NOVEMBER 2
Arsène Lupin: Season 2 (France)
Based on the popular “Arsène Lupin” novels by Maurice Leblanc, this classic French TV series stars Georges Descrières (Two for the Road) in his signature, iconic role as the titular gentleman burglar who moonlights as a detective in turn-of-the-20th-century France. Arsène Lupin is an elegant nemesis to white-collar criminals and those undeserving of getting away with their crimes, even as he himself manages to elude suspicion and capture.
Movie of the Week: Like Thunder in a Cloudless Sky (Comme un coup de tonnerre dans un ciel sans nuage)
Grégory Montel (Call My Agent!) stars in this drama as Paul, a small-town doctor whose family must pull together after he suffers a mental health crisis.
NOVEMBER 9
Marnow Murders (Die Toten von Marnow) (Germany)
In this crime thriller, Detectives Lona Mendt (Petra Schmidt-Schaller, Inspector Falke) and Frank Elling (Sascha Alexander Gersak, The Typist) are on the trail of a serial killer, but powerful enemies stand in their way as a dark chapter in German history is uncovered.
Movie of the Week: The Woman with Red Hair (La Femme aux cheveux rouges) (France)
Set in Southern Burgundy, this mystery drama sees out-of-town reporter Antoine (Samuel Le Bihan, Shadows of the Past) teaming up with local woman Constance (Laëtitia Milot, Murder in Avignon) to discover the truth behind the deaths of her parents.
NOVEMBER 16
The Promised Life: Season 1 (La vita promessa) (Italy)
Luisa Ranieri (The Homicide Squad, Luisa Spagnoli) stars in this epic period drama as Carmela Carrizzo, a courageous mother who moves her family from Sicily to New York in search of a better life. (Season 2 premieres in North America in December.)
Movie of the Week: Duplicity (Imposture) (France)
In this tense psychological thriller, a woman (Laura Smet, Captain Marleau) uncovers her own hidden past and dark family secrets following the death of her mother.
NOVEMBER 23
Murder in…: Season 8 (Meutres à…) (France)
This fan-favorite series returns with another gorgeous collection of mysteries, each one set in a different, picturesque region of France. This season’s twelve episodes will transport viewers to Biarritz, Land’s End, Angoulême, Castellane, the Larzac, Toulouse, Tahiti, Valenciennes, Dunkirk, Savoie, Guérande, and Basque Country.
A Good Year (Een Goed Jaar) (Belgium)
In this twisty crime drama, a disgraced engineer (Jurgen Delnaet, Amigos) and a down-on-his-luck small-time crook (Boris Van Severen, Salamander) hatch a plan to strike it rich by claiming to have found Hitler’s wine cellar.
Changing Rooms: Season 1 (Vestiaires) (France)
Laughter and disability go hand-in-hand, and nothing is off the table, in this offbeat, short-form comedy series set entirely in the locker room of a differently-abled swim team. Check out the first episode below.
Movie of the Week: Her Word Against His (Parole contre parole) (France)
This mystery-crime drama stars Elsa Lunghini (Murder in Saint Omer) as Laura, a rape victim who faces a dilemma: tell the truth about her assault, or stay silent and allow her attacker to be falsely convicted for murder.
NOVEMBER 30
The New Nurses: Season 3 (Sygeplejeskolen) (Denmark)
Set in spring 1953, the new season of this period drama finds the county needing a new central hospital, with Fredenslund facing stiff competition from St. Helene, a more conservative hospital that doesn’t accept male nurses. The fate of the school hangs in the balance, so it’s up to Matron and the students to win over the skeptical chairman of the county council. Meanwhile, first-year students face a challenging internship on the surgical ward, where the chief surgeon is a new hire. Here they must learn to assist during an operation, while the ever more demanding shifts take their toll on the overworked students.
Happily Never After (Pabbahelgar) (Iceland)
Written, produced, and directed by series star Nanna Kristín Magnúsdóttir (Cover Story), this comedy-drama follows Karen, a couples counselor and mother of three who must navigate her way through a different future after realizing her husband is cheating on her. Finding herself suddenly single, Karen’s unrealistic expectations about relationships and work lead to comedic twists that are ultimately unsustainable.
Movie of the Week: Death in the Soul (La mort dans l’âme) (France)
Hugo Becker (Chefs) stars in this mystery-crime drama as Tristan, an ambitious attorney who uncovers the dark family secrets of a man he has been assigned to represent — a father who admits to killing his own son.
All of the above titles will be available to screen on MHz Choice in the US and Canada via the MHz Choice website, the streamer’s Android, iOS and other apps, and on its digital channels, including MHz Choice on Amazon Channels.
