Netflix has announced that production has started on The Trap, a new psychological thriller series from Germany.
Filming has started in and around Düsseldorf and Cologne on The Trap (Die Falle), a new six-part miniseries from the team behind the International Emmy® Award-winning series Dear Child.
Based on the novel of the same name (#ad) by Melanie Raabe, The Trap is a complex web of deception and truth — about a murder for which almost anyone could be the killer.
The story centers on Lisa Konrad, a renowned author who hasn’t left her house in nearly ten years — ever since she witnessed the murder of her sister Anna. But when she believes she recognizes the killer on television, she sets out to trap him using herself as the bait.
Friederike Becht (Faster than Fear, Labyrinth of Lies, Hannah Arendt) stars as Lisa Konrad. The cast also includes Hans Löw (Dear Child) as journalist Robert Lenzen; Matthias Brandt (Dark Woods) as publisher Norbert Rudow; Miriam Ohlmeyer (Vexier) as the fictional character, Sophie; Josephine Thiesen (The Empress) as Lisa Konrad’s sister, Anna; and Malaya Stern Takeda (The Assessment) as Lisa’s assistant, Yuma, along with Anna Schudt (Das Boot) and Michael Klammer (Cassandra), amongst others.
A production of Constantin Film, the thriller series is written and directed by creative producer Isabel Kleefeld (Dear Child), produced by Tom Spiess and Friederich Oetker, and executive produced by Oliver Berben.
The Trap is expected to premiere exclusively on Netflix in 2026. Stay tuned for updates.
