Netflix announced today the main cast of The Final Problem, a new Spanish mystery thriller miniseries. Check out the video.
Production has started on The Final Problem (El problema final), which is based on El problema final (#ad), the best-selling novel by acclaimed Spanish author Arturo Pérez-Reverte.
The miniseries stars Jose Coronado (Rotten Legacy, Wrong Side of the Tracks, The Snow Girl, Unauthorized Living), María Valverde (Sounds Like Love, Fever Dream, Guernica), Martiño Rivas (Nacho, Cable Girls, I Know Who You Are), Maribel Verdú (When No One Sees Us, Elite, Now and Then), Gonzalo de Castro (Bird Box: Barcelona, The Perfect Family, The Innocent), Cristina Kovani (Muted, Past Lies, If Only), José Condessa (Cacau, Turn of the Tide, A Filha), and Pepón Nieto (30 Coins, The Envoys, Smiley), amongst others.
Set in the spring of 1959, the five-episode series revolves around thirteen people who are stuck on a small islet near Mallorca due to a violent storm. Then, British tourist Elisa Mander is found dead at the small hotel where they’re staying.
Although her death seems like a suicide at first, unsettling signs soon point to murder. Basil (Jose Coronado), a retired actor once famous for portraying Sherlock Holmes on the big screen, finds himself unexpectedly tasked with solving the case.
In a place where no one can leave — and no one can reach — every guest and staff member becomes a suspect in a crime that grows more intricate and twisted by the minute.
A production of Mod Producciones (Agora, Biutiful, Crematorium), the series is written by Alberto Macías (Drug Squad: Costa del Sol), Carlos Molinero (3 Caminos), and Marisol Farré (Captain Alatriste); directed by Félix Viscarret (Patria); produced by Fernando Bovaira (The Champion); and executive produced by Urko Errazquin (Los Farad).
