Amongst the thousands of daring souls who embark on this harrowing journey across 125 miles of the Netherlands’ icy terrain are Henk Brenninkmeijer (Cas Jansen, The Oldenheim 12), a soldier who risks desertion for the chance to skate; Kees Ferwerda (Chris Zegers, Toon), a determined worker facing personal turmoil; Sjoerd Lelkema (Lourens van den Akker, King of the Skies), a farmer’s son striving to prove his mettle; and Annemiek (Chava Voor in ‘t Holt, Force), a nurse skating in honor of a lost friend. Against the the biting cold and relentless winds, and against the odds, they push through to the end.
