Aah, new love. There’s nothing like it, right? For new lovebirds Pia (Janina Uhse, Rising High) and Jan (Dennis Mojen, Into the Night) — with their racing hearts, butterflies in the stomach, and feelings of happiness — there’s nothing better. They can hardly spend a minute without each other.

Finally, Pia introduces Jan to her friends during a game night. What could possibly go wrong?

Um, everything.

It soon becomes clear that the tight-knit group of gamers — including host Karo (Anna Maria Mühe, Woman of the Dead), her fantasy role-playing husband Oliver (Axel Stein, Professor T.), hopeless romantic Sheila (Taneshia Abt, Tatort: Berlin), and dreamy perpetual student Kurt (Max Bretschneider, Charité) — is very particular. Also joining in the fun is Alex (Edin Hasanovic, All Quiet on the Western Front), Jan’s buddy, personal advisor, and savior in times of need.

But what was planned as a casual get-together escalates quickly and drastically. And when Pia’s troublemaker ex, Matthias (Stephan Luca, Crossing Lines), turns up, a crazy competition breaks out in which everything is suddenly at stake — including Pia’s heart.

Blame the Game premieres globally on Friday, July 12, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now.)

A production of W&B Television (Dark, Pagan Peak), the film is directed by Marco Petry (Partly Sunny) from the screenplay by Claudius Pläging (Family Affairs). The executive producers are Quirin Berg, Max Wiedemann, and Marcus Welke of W&B Television, with Hannah Leuze (The Gryphon) as producer.
