Written by Simon de Waal (The Golden Hour), the thriller centers on a tense hostage situation in the heart of Amsterdam, gripping the city and the country and capturing global attention. A mosaic-style film, it switches between key characters’ perspectives — from the perpetrator to the hostages and the first responders — focusing on the life-threatening situations and the choices made in those moments during the intense standoff.

Filming will begin soon with director Bobby Boermans (The Golden Hour, Mocro Mafia, The Neighbors), who said:

“The hostage situation in the Apple Store marks a unique event in the Netherlands and inspired me, along with screenwriter Simon de Waal, to collaborate once again. With the film, we aim to tell a genuine and compelling story, providing the audience with a realistic portrayal of the intense experiences of those involved during the five-hour hostage situation.”

The cast includes Soufiane Moussouli (Mocro Mafia), Marcel Hensema (Van der Valk), Loes Haverkort (Van der Valk), Louis Talpe (Hotel Beau Séjour), Emmanuel Ohene Boafo (Toon), Fockeline Ouwerkerk (The Schouwendam 12), Roosmarijn van der Hoek (Flikken Maastricht), Matteo van der Grijn (The Golden Hour), Thijs Boermans (Women of the Night), Ahlaam Teghadouini (Ferry: The Series), and Jolanda Van Den Berg (Freddy Heineken).

A production of Horizon Film, the film is produced by Sabine Brian, Boudewijn Rosenmuller, and Diederik van Rooijen. It will launch globally on Netflix in 2025.

Stay tuned for updates.
