Swedish action thriller/disaster flick The Abyss stars Tuva Novotny (Crimes of Passion, The Kingdom, Bonus Family) as Frigga, the head of security at the Kiirunavaara mine, the world’s largest underground mine. Frigga does her best to balance her work and family life, the latter of which includes her new lover, Dabir (Kardo Razzazi, The Head, Top Dog), and ex Tage (Peter Franzén, Helsinki Syndrome, Vikings), who doesn’t want to let go.

But when the ground beneath their feet in the town of Kiruna suddenly begins to shake and huge cracks appear in the roads, life balance is the least of Frigga’s concerns. Kiruna is sinking and collapsing into the mine, and she must help get herself and the townspeople out before they are pulled into the abyss…

Costars include Edvin Ryding (Young Royals, Gåsmamman), Felicia Truedsson (Young Royals, Anno 1790), and Tintin Poggats Sarri (Charter), amongst others.

The Abyss, a Netflix Film, premieres globally (outside Sweden) on Friday, February 16, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now.)
