Today Netflix announced the global premiere date and released first-look photos for the new Swedish drama thriller A Day and a Half.
For A Day and a Half, multi-award-winning actor Fares Fares (Chernobyl, Partisan, Department Q films) is both behind and in front of the camera, costarring alongside and directing Alexej Manvelov (Top Dog, Occupied, Before We Die) and Alma Pöysti (Tove, Liberty) in the drama thriller.
Said Fares Fares, who marks his directorial debut in A Day and a Half:
“I feel very proud of this film and I’m incredibly happy that the whole world will be able to see it soon!”
Inspired by true events, the story follows Artan (Alexej Manvelov), who, to reunite with his daughter, takes his ex-wife, Louise (Alma Pöysti), hostage and embarks on a thrilling and emotionally-charged road trip with her and police officer Lukas (Fares Fares). The journey takes them through rural Sweden during a hot summer — all while having police on their heels.
A Day and A Half will launch globally on Friday, September 1, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now on the film’s page at www.netflix.com/adayandahalf.)
Also featuring in the film are Stina Ekblad (Thicker than Water), Bengt C.W. Carlsson (Love & Anarchy), Annica Liljeblad (The Congregation), Annika Hallin (Agent Hamilton), and Johni Tadi (Snabba Cash).
A Day and a Half is written by director Fares Fares and Peter Smirnakos, with Johan Hedman serving as executive producer and Christina Legkova and Hanna Lundmark as producers.
