Netflix has set the global premiere date for Anxious People, the streamer’s latest Swedish Original series. Check out the teaser.
Based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Fredrik Backman, Anxious People (Folk med ångest) is a comedy-drama about a bank robber who fails miserably by robbing a cashless bank and ends up taking eight people hostage during an open house. After he gives up, dysfunctional police officers Jim (Dan Ekborg, Black Widows) and Jack (Alfred Svensson, The 100 Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared), who happen to be father and son, storm the apartment.
There is just one problem: The apartment is empty. In a series of contradictory testimonies afterwards, the hostages tell their versions of what really happened, whereupon a classic but hilarious mystery develops — all while the hostages share a common secret that creates a unique and almost unbreakable bond between them.
The six-episode series costars Leif Andrée (Real Humans), Marika Lagercrantz (Modus), Carla Sehn (Love & Anarchy), Petrina Solange (Bonus Family), Per Andersson (A Piece of My Heart), Anna Granath (A Man Called Ove), Lottie Ejebrant (Crimes of Passion), Sofia Ledarp (Miss Friman’s War), and Shima Niavarani (The Simple Heist).
Produced by FLX (Love & Anarchy, Quicksand), the series is directed by Felix Herngren (The Restaurant), scripted by head writer Camilla Ahlgren (The Bridge/Bron/Broen) and Alex Haridi (Blue Eyes), and produced by Anna Carlsten (The Lawyer). The Executive Producers are Pontus Edgren for FLX, Fredrik Backman, Neda Backman, and Tor Jonasson for literary agency Salomonsson Agency.
Anxious People premieres globally on Wednesday, December 29, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now.)
