Netflix has set the global premiere date for Sounds Like Love, the Spanish rom-com drama film based on novels by Elísabet Benavent.
Adapted from Elísabet Benavent‘s best-selling two-part “Canciones y recuerdos” novel series, Sounds Like Love (Fuimos canciones) follows Maca, a 30-year-old fashion assistant who’s just about got her life together after a devastating breakup, when Leo, the man who broke her heart, returns. Seeking support from best friends Adriana and Jime, all three will learn that love can be complicated.
The main cast includes María Valverde (Galveston) as Maca, Álex González (Unauthorized Living) as Leo, Elísabet Casanovas (Merlí) as Jimena, and Susana Abaitúa (Patria) as Adriana, along with Eva Ugarte (Velvet) and Miri Pérez-Cabrero (Someone Has to Die).
Although clumsy by nature, Maca makes the most of life and strives to be happy. Her talent is wasted working as an assistant for an oppressive and terrifying fashion influencer, and her time is spent with guys with whom she never manages to establish an emotional bond.
Together with her two unique and lovable friends, Jimena and Adriana, who are always prepared to do whatever it takes to make their problems seem not so bad, Maca manages to make Madrid a city where everything is possible.
Everything seems to be going well until he who must not be named comes back into her life. Namely Leo — the love of Maca’s life, the biggest mistake of her life, the man who tore her heart apart and obliterated her self-esteem and her faith in men. Yes, him. He returns to her life to turn everything upside down.
For her part, Maca has tried to forget him. But now she has to accept that he is back, and she must deal with her suppressed emotions and the unforgettable memory of what could have been but never was. Her old wounds have been ripped open, and Maca will have to be brave and confront her conflicts, fears, and insecurities in order to finally take control of her life.
Supporting cast members include Roger Berruezo (Acacias 38), Ignacio Montes (Velvet Colección), Artur Busquets (I Know Who You Are), Claudia Galán (High Seas), and Carlo Constanzia (Toy Boy).
Sounds Like Love, a Netflix original series, premieres globally on Wednesday, September 29, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it on the show’s page.)
