Fans of Suburra: Blood on Rome (Suburra – La serie) are waiting with bated breath for the premiere of the third season of the brilliant Italian crime thriller. That it’s the final season, well, all good things must come to an end. (Sigh.)

To briefly recap, Season 1 revolved around the Vatican and the acquisition of lands in Ostia for the construction of a port, while Season 2 centered on the competition for political power over the city with the election of a new mayor.

(Note: spoilers ahead if you haven’t watched Season 2.)

After Lele’s tragic suicide, Manfredi’s unexpected awakening from a coma, and Cinaglia’s rise in the Capitol after being elected the new mayor of Rome, the Suburra is set in motion again in Season 3, which unfolds in Rome’s streets and alleys to reveal crime in the Eternal City up close. The world above and the world below the roads of Rome must come to terms to share the greatest deal of the new millennium: the Jubilee. Aureliano and Spadino are ready to challenge Samurai again to claim the throne of the Eternal City, and the battle is full of twists and unexpected alliances. The question is, will they win?

Returning for the final season are Alessandro Borghi (Devils) as Aureliano, Giacomo Ferrara (Don Matteo) as Spadino, Filippo Nigro (Medici) as Amedeo Cinaglia, Francesco Acquaroli (Rocco Schiavone) as Samurai, Adamo Dionisi (Rocco Schiavone) as Manfredi Anacleti, Claudia Gerini (Inspector Coliandro) as Sara Monaschi, Carlotta Antonelli (Mafia Undercover) as Angelica, Federica Sabatini (Sons of ‘Ndrangheta) as Nadia, Rosa Diletta Rossi (Carlo & Malik) as Alice Cinaglia, Paola Sotgiu (Donna Detective) as Adelaide Anacleti, Alberto Cracco (Fog and Crimes) as Cardinale Fiorenzo Nascari, and Jacopo Venturiero (Nero Wolfe) as Adriano.
