Netflix has set the premiere date for City of Shadows, a new Barcelona-set mystery-crime thriller series from Spain.

City of Shadows (aka Ciudad de sombras) is adapted from the book El Verdugo de Gaudí, the first title in Aro Sáinz de la Maza’s “Milo Malart” tetralogy series of detective novels, published by Destino (Grupo Planeta).
The six-episode series stars Isak Férriz (Bank Under Siege, Burning Body, The Diplomat, Below Zero) as Inspector Milo Malart, who was recently suspended from the police force for insubordination. But when a burned body is found on the façade of La Pedrera – Casa Milà, the iconic building by renowned architect Antoni Gaudí, he returns to duty in Barcelona.
Working alongside Milo to investigate the macabre crime is Deputy Inspector Rebeca Garrido (the late Verónica Echegui, Fortitude, 3 Caminos, Intimacy, Love You to Death). Together, they set out to track down the perpetrator and bring them to justice.
City of Shadows, a Netflix Series, premieres globally on Friday, December 12, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now.)
The cast also includes Ana Wagener (The Innocent, Alba), Manolo Solo (30 Coins, The Legacy of the Bones), and Jordi Ballester (Perdida, We All Want What’s Best for Her).
A production of Arcadia (Burning Body), the series is directed by Jorge Torregrossa (Burning Body, Cocaine Coast, Intimacy), who co-wrote it with Carlos López (Morocco: Love in Times of War) and Clara Esparrach (Three Days of Christmas).
