UPtv announced today the US premiere date for The Sunshine Murders, a new English-language mystery-crime drama series set in Greece. Check out the preview.

Set in Athens, Greece, The Sunshine Murders follows an unlikely crime fighting duo made up of two very different sisters. Shirley Rangi (Emily Corcoran, Mars, The Stolen), a farmer from New Zealand, travels to Athens in search of her father. Here, she meets her Greek half-sister, Helen Moustakas (Dora Chrysikou, I gi tis elias, I zoi tis allis), a detective. It isn’t long before Shirley starts helping Helen to solve crimes with her Down Under wit and wisdom while they try to find their missing father.
In the series opener, Helen is struggling with her job, her teenager, and her ex-husband when a Kiwi woman named Shirley shows up, claiming to be her half-sister. Helen thinks Shirley is off her rocker, but then accidentally brings her to the crime scene of the mysterious death of an archaeologist, where Shirley inadvertently helps with clues. After twisting her ankle, Helen has no choice but to let Shirley drive her to interview the suspects at a beautiful hotel, and later to her daughter, Thalia’s (Chloe Stannage, The Secret Garden), school — which Shirley offers to do in exchange for Helen’s agreeing to get a DNA test. The day ends even more bizarrely than it began for Helen: That night, she’s attacked outside her home, but, fortunately, is rescued by Shirley. Now, the pair must find the attacker.
The Sunshine Murders premieres in the US with two episodes on Thursday, September 4, starting at 8pm ET, on UPtv.
Costars in the series include British pop star Peter Andre (Tripped), Stephanie Beacham (Dynasty), Camilla Rutherford (Hotel Portofino), Nick Moran (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels), Nina Wadia (Eastenders), and Marina Sirtis (Star Trek: The Next Generation).
A Cyprus-New Zealand-UK production of The Avenues Media and Green Olive Films in association with Cork Films, Three Point Capital, Quickfire, HH5, RunVT, and Reel One International, the series is showrun by Emily Corcoran, who co-wrote it with Victoria Taylor-Roberts. The producers are Dionysios Manganis (for Cyprus), Robyn Jordaan (for New Zealand), and Sara Wilkins (for the UK). Production and Costume Designer Merryn Corcoran also serves as Executive Producer alongside Piers Holdsworth Hunt, Simos Manganis, and Jon and Natalie Yob.
