Netflix announced today the release date for A Classic Horror Story, and dropped the trailer for the film, as well.
Before A Classic Horror Story arrives on Netflix next month, the film will be in competition at the 67th edition of the Taormina Film Fest, which runs June 27 to July 3, 2021, in Taormina, Italy.
Directed by Roberto De Feo (The Nest) and Paolo Strippoli (Nessun Dorma) and shot entirely in Puglia and Rome, A Classic Horror Story (Una classica storia dell’orrore) follows five people who carpool together in an RV to head to their common destination. While on the road during the night, the driver swerves to avoid hitting a deer, and they crash into a tree.
When they regain consciousness, the five men and women discover that the road they were traveling on has vanished. They now find themselves in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by the dense and impenetrable woods in which a wood house sits in the middle of a clearing. In relatively short order, these now-stranded individuals discover that the house is the home of an unmentionable cult.
How did they get here? What really happened after the accident? Who are the masked creatures depicted in the paintings in the house? Most importantly, will they be able to trust each other to try and get out of this nightmare they have been trapped in?
The cast of A Classic Horror Story includes Matilda Lutz (Medici) as Elisa, Francesco Russo (My Brilliant Friend) as Fabrizio, Peppino Mazzotta (Detective Montalbano) as Riccardo, Yulia Sobol (Don Matteo) as Sofia, Will Merrick (Poldark) as Mark, Alida Baldari Calabria (Pinocchio) as Chiara, and Cristina Donadio (Gomorrah) as Il Sindaco.
A production of Colorado Films, the film is written by Lucio Besana (The Nest), Roberto De Feo, Paolo Strippoli, Milo Tissone (Nessun Dorma), and David Bellini (Un medico in famiglia).
A Classic Horror Story premieres globally on Wednesday, July 14, exclusively on Netflix.
