Netflix announced today its new Danish Original series Elves, a holiday horror series from the creators of The Rain.
Created and written by Stefan Jaworski (Those Who Kill, When the Dust Settles), based on an original idea of Jannik Tai Mosholt (Rita) and Christian Potalivo (The Rain), Elves (Nisser) will bring back the monstrous beings that inspired the folklore and myths many of us are familiar with.
Hoping to reconnect over Christmas, a family of four travels to a remote island in the Danish archipelago, only to find it controlled by members of a deeply religious community living in balance with fierce creatures in the woods revealed to be… elves. When the girl in the family finds and brings home a baby elf, she inadvertently disrupts the balance and throws everyone on the island into a life-or-death battle for faith, family, and pure survival.
Cast members include Ann Eleonora Jørgensen (Ride Upon the Storm), Rasmus Hammerich (The Bridge), Peder Thomas Pedersen (The Lawyer), Lila Nobel (When the Dust Settles), and Lukas Løkken (The Rain).
A project of Miso Film, production on the six-episode series has started outside of Copenhagen, with Roni Ezra (The New Nurses) directing and Elise H. Lund producing for Miso Film. Jannik Tai Mosholt and Christian Potalivo serve as executive producers along with Miso Film’s Peter Bose and Jonas Allen.

Stay tuned for updates.
