The Habitat (Reservatet) (working title)

In this drama series, Ruby, a young Filipino au pair, disappears from one of Denmark’s most affluent neighborhoods north of Copenhagen, causing Cecilie, a neighbor, to become convinced that something has happened to her. Cecilie’s own au pair, Angel, begins to investigate the rumors circulating among the area’s many au pairs, while suspicions of a crime grow.

However, the case of the missing foreigner is a low priority for the police, and the newly-minted investigator, Alicia, needs all the assistance she can get. Cecilie and Angel are ready to help, and gradually the power structures and privileges within the beautiful homes start to become exposed. Cecilie’s commitment to uncovering the truth is put to the test when Ruby’s disappearance reveals connections to her own family, forcing her to confront her blind spots and to view her family and the environment in which she is raising her children in a whole new light.

In this sequel to the comedy film Maybe Baby, Cecilie (Mille Dinesen, Rita) and Andreas’s (Lars Ranthe, Seaside Hotel) son, Leo, and Liv (Katinka Lærke Petersen, Loving Adults) and Malte’s (Kasper Dalsgaard, The New Nurses) daughter, Sille, are now two years old. The families still keep in touch, but live very different lives. During a medical exam, it is revealed that the two babies were never swapped. After the shock subsides, the two families decide to move in together in a collective at Andreas and Cecilie’s place, in order for both sets of parents to be with both children every day. However, the couples’ very different views on lifestyle, decor, eating habits, and parenting methods soon become apparent, and the two families struggle to live under the same roof.

In addition, Cecilie feels much more attached to her biological daughter, Sille, than to Leo, so she decides to pursue custody of Sille behind the backs of the other three parents. When she realizes she has acted wrongly, it is too late; her selfish plan is exposed. The collective falls apart, Liv and Malte move away with Sille, and Cecilie must now fight to be forgiven and find a solution that everyone can live with.

Standalone Sequel to The Chestnut Man

In this mystery-crime drama series, a 41-year-old woman is found dead. During the investigation, the police delve into the woman’s digital traces and discover that she had been the victim of a violent form of stalking for months. The unknown perpetrator played an involuntary game of hide-and-seek with her by monitoring her in private situations and sending her a steady stream of pictures and videos together with what looks like a nursery rhyme. It soon becomes apparent that the murder can be linked to another unsolved case, in which a 17-year-old high school student was also subjected to a violent form of stalking before she was found dead a couple of years ago.

Mark Hess, a distribution officer from Europol, is back in Copenhagen and undertakes to lead the investigation together with his former partner, Naia Thulin. However, the relationship between the two investigators is complicated. After the case of the Chestnut Man, Hess and Thulin tried dating, but the relationship ended abruptly and was filled with unresolved feelings.

Based on a novel by Søren Sveistrup, the six-episode series stars Danica Curcic (The Chestnut Man, Nobel), Mikkel Boe Følsgaard (The Chestnut Man, The Rain), Sofie Gråbøl (The Killing, Prisoner), and Katinka Lærke Petersen (Baby Fever, When the Dust Settles).

A project of SAM productions, the series is directed by Milad Alami (When the Dust Settles), and created and written by Dorte Warnøe Høgh (Dicte) and Emilie Lebech Kaae (Ragnarok). It is produced by Morten Kjems Hytten Juhl (The Chestnut Man) and Stine Meldgaard Madsen (Ragnarok), and executive produced by Meta Louise Foldager Sørensen (Ragnarok).

The standalone sequel to The Chestnut Man is slated to debut on Netflix in 2026. Stay tuned for updates.
