The Italian true-crime docuseries The Yara Gambirasio Case: Beyond Reasonable Doubt is set for its global premiere. Check out the trailer.
If you’ve seen the Italian drama feature Yara, then you’re already familiar with the story of murdered teenager Yara Gambirasio. If not, you can check it out here.
The five-part true-crime docuseries The Yara Gambirasio Case: Beyond Reasonable Doubt retraces the tragic story and delves deeper into the case.
In November 2010, 13-year-old Yara Gambirasio was heading home from gymnastics practice, a 700-meter walk in Brembate di Sopra, a municipality located about 30 miles northeast of Milan. Somewhere along the way, she vanished without a trace, prompting a search that became one of the most extensive in Italian criminal history. After three months, her dead body was discovered. Yara had been murdered.
The docuseries reconstructs the investigation into Yara’s disappearance, which culminates with the arrest of local construction worker Massimo Bossetti, who would later be sentenced to life in prison for the murder. The lengthy investigative and judicial process reveals the truth about some of the Bossetti family’s family ties, while bringing to light intricate and often controversial details about the investigation.
Through testimonies, reconstructions, unpublished materials about events related to the investigation, and exclusive interviews — including with Bossetti and his wife Marita — accusations of misdirection and suspicions about the investigative methods are explored.
The Yara Gambirasio Case: Beyond Reasonable Doubt, a Netflix Documentary Series, premieres globally on July 16, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now.)
