Netflix announced today the global premiere date for The Platform 2, the sequel to the hit Spanish sci-fi psychological thriller The Platform. Check out the teaser.
The Platform, the first film in “The Platform” universe, is the most popular Spanish film in Netflix history, with 108,090,000 hours watched in its first 28 days. (The film is only 1 hour 35 minutes long.) It is also one of the most popular non-English-language films in Netflix history, coming in fifth in this Top Ten list.
In The Platform 2 (El hoyo 2), as a mysterious leader imposes their rule in the Platform, a new resident becomes embroiled in the battle against this controversial method to fight the brutal feeding system. But when eating from the wrong plate becomes a death sentence, how far would you be willing to go to save your life?
The Platform 2, a Netflix Film, premieres globally on Friday, October 4, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now.)
The film stars Milena Smit (The Snow Girl), Hovik Keuchkerian (Money Heist), Natalia Tena (Game of Thrones), and Óscar Jaenada (Luis Miguel: The Series), amongst others.
It is directed by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia (The Platform) and produced by Carlos Juárez, Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia, and Raquel Perea for Basque Films.
