Prime Video has announced its slate of upcoming Spanish titles, most of which will be available globally.

In response to the growing global demand for content from Spain, Prime Video has revealed the Spanish programming it will be bringing to subscribers in the coming months and next year. They include new titles under the Amazon Original banner, plus others being added to Prime Video’s licensed and exclusive catalogue.

LOCAL ORIGINAL FILMS

Apocalipsis Z: El principio del fin

Based on the novel Apocalipsis Z. El principio del fin by Manel Loureiro, this highly-anticipated film sees a strange, rabies-like disease start to spread unchecked across the planet, turning people into extremely aggressive creatures. But Manel (Francisco Ortiz, El Cid, Garcia!) has been living his own personal apocalypse since his wife died in an accident, spending the past year depressed and isolated from his family, with only Luculo, his cat, for company.

When the disease becomes even stronger, Manel’s sister insists that he leave Vigo and join her in the Canary Islands, but the plan fails. Manel has to barricade himself in his house, resorting to his ingenuity and skills to survive. However, he and Luculo are soon forced to leave, and they will meet, by land and by sea, unlikely but essential travel companions.

This drama centers on Chimo (Christian Checa, Drug Squad: Costa del Sol) and El Rubio (Hugo Welzel, The Invisible Girl), two teenagers from the same neighborhood — one a victim, the other the abuser; one bullied, the other the bully — who’ve grown up being enemies. Sigue mi voz

Based on the best-selling novel Sigue mi voz by Ariana Godoy (author of Through My Window), this romance drama stars Berta Castañé (Welcome to Eden, The Barrier, Three Days of Christmas) as Klara, who does nothing but listen to her favorite radio show, Sigue mi voz, after a health crisis keeps her at home for 76 days straight. One day she wonders: Is it possible to fall in love with someone she’s only ever heard on the radio but never met? Can she really feel something for Kang (newcomer Jae Woo Yang), the radio show host? And will she overcome her fears and go out into the world again?

Viaje de fin de curso

Set in 2021, this teen comedy follows a group of high school students and teachers who, after spending a year in confinement thanks to Spain’s COVID-19 lockdown, head off on an end-of-the-year trip to Mallorca. It’s the last chance they have to be together, make up for lost time, have fun like never before, and say goodbye to this crazy stage of their lives. La virgen roja

This highly-anticipated biopic-historical drama thriller film, with a touch of true crime to boot, tells the fact-based story of the extraordinary and tragic life of Hildegart Rodríguez (Alba Planas, SKAM España), one of the most brilliant minds of Spain in the 1930s and a European reference on female sexuality at that time. She was raised and educated by her mother, Aurora (Najwa Nimri, Holy Family), to be the woman of the future.

However, when Hildegart is eighteen and beginning to experience a bit of freedom, she meets Abel Velilla (Patrick Criado, Mar de plástico), who helps her to explore a new emotional world and break away from Aurora’s ironclad control. For her part, Aurora fears losing control over her daughter and does everything she can to prevent Hildegart from moving away. The two women will confront each other during a summer night in 1933, effectively ending the “Hildegart Project.”

Zeta

In this action-packed thriller, five former Spanish spies are murdered at the same time in different embassies around the world. Spain’s National Intelligence Center (CNI) discovers that they had participated in the secret “Operation Ciénaga,” which took place 35 years ago in Colombia, where a sixth agent — ​​the only one who escaped from the assassins — was involved. Finding him will be the first objective for the CNI, which puts its best agent in charge of the mission: Zeta.

Set in 1998 Valladolid, this comedy series stars Elena Anaya (Past Lies, The Chalk Line) as Nines, a conservative housewife who is forced to confront everything she thought she knew about herself after her husband falls into a coma, leaving her to run the family video store. When she discovers that the business is bankrupt, Nines decides to specialize in the only genre that makes them money: porn. With the help of outspoken employee Chon and inveterate film buff Agu, she turns the store, named “Dorothy,” into the first porn video retailer in the city — a place that will become the epicenter of an earthquake amongst the neighbors. Sexual liberation is now unstoppable!

Set in Spain in 1997, this horror thriller series finds the inhabitants of Río Blanco, a town that lives off strawberries, have accepted that the Moroccan seasonal workers have settled in the abandoned village of Fuensanta. But their coexistence causes tensions. Sonia (Michelle Jenner, The Cook of Castamar), the leader of an NGO that helps with integration, knows this. This post-apocalyptic action-comedy series sees Tomás (José Manuel Poga, Money Heist, Sky Rojo, Burning Body) wake up hungover in the middle of an orgy in a furniture store on the day the apocalypse was supposed to happen. Months ago, when he was faced with the news about the end of the world, Tomás abandoned his wife, Julia (Malena Alterio, Spanish Shame), and daughter, Noa (Irene Pérez, Buster), without looking back. But when the errant planet that was going to crash into Earth passes by and the world keeps turning, Tomás realizes the magnitude of his mistake.

Red Queen: Seasons 2 and 3 (Reina Roja)

Based on the “Antonia Scott” novels by by Juan Gómez-Jurado, the first season of this drama thriller, adapted from the first book in the series, Red Queen, was a hit with viewers, reaching Prime Video’s Top 10 most-watched titles internationally at launch in February 2024. It stars Vicky Luengo (Antidisturbios, The Occupant) as Antonia Scott, officially the smartest person on Earth with an IQ of 242. Her intelligence made her the “Red Queen” of a secret and experimental police project, but what seemed like a gift became a curse, and she ended up losing everything. (Trailer is from Season 1)

The second season of Reina Roja is based on Book 2 of the “Antonia Scott” series, Black Wolf, with the recently-commissioned third season being based on Book 3, White King.

El Circo de los Muchachos

This five-episode docuseries tells the incredible story of Father Jesús Silva, who created from nothing the City of Benposta in the outskirts of Ourense, Galicia, in 1956 in Francoist Spain. An educational project for underprivileged children, Benposta was like a nation within a nation, governed by the children, with its own currency, passports, and customs. It had the approval of both the Franco dictatorship and the Church, and, interestingly, had democratic processes to elect Benposta’s mayors.

Over time, Benposta became a city steeped in art, education, and excitement, and Silva founded “El Circo de los Muchachos,” a fascinating show that took these underprivileged children around the world, impressing audiences with their circus skills, even filling New York’s Madison Square Garden.

Cómo cazar a un monstruo

This true-crime docuseries is the story of how a filmmaker fought for justice and how a criminal’s ego ended up being his downfall. It follows YouTuber and filmmaker Carles Tamayo, who was asked by Lluís Gros to make a documentary of his life to clean up his image after his conviction and 23-year prison sentence for sexual abuse. Thinking Gros would be repentant and ask for forgiveness, Tamayo agreed; however, this wasn’t the case, so the filmmaker set out to find out why the criminal was still free and unpunished. After months of tracking and exhaustive research, Tamayo discovered many other crimes committed by Gros that motivated him to fight for justice.

This thrilling feature-length documentary exposes the longest infiltration of a European pharmaceutical laboratory ever, putting into perspective and shedding light on the use of animals in scientific experimentation. It is the story of an undercover agent who sacrificed everything and put her life at risk to show the world the harsh reality, which she experienced for two years inside an animal testing laboratory. Her investigation, inside what she ended up calling “the bunker,” is captured in hundreds of hours of footage recorded with a hidden camera that shows serious violations of animal abuse.

This five-episode docuseries is about alleged celebrity scammer Antonio Medina, who has spent the last twenty years swindling small amounts of money from many television personalities by posing as someone who had worked with them and is in the midst of a personal drama. One victim is comedian Jorge Ponce, who sets out to find the swindler using all of the resources at his disposal, from private detectives to the long list of comedians who were also victims of Medina’s deception. The series follows the investigation and features personal accounts from the victims and dramatic recreations of the scams.

Operación Triunfo 2025

This musical talent show, Prime Video’s first-ever live entertainment show and its most acquired Spanish Original, follows a group of contestants who enter an Academy to train and demonstrate their talent as singers and artists. Each week, in a gala with a live audience, the contestants must compete and show their skills on stage.
