Netflix announced today the start of production on Season 2 of the Flemish- and Dutch-language young adult drama High Tides (Knokke Off).
High Tides follows the lives of a group of twenty-somethings who spend summer in the Belgian coastal city of Knokke, including Louise Basteyns (Pommelien Thijs, “The Claus Family” trilogy), Alexandre “Alex” Vandael (Willem De Schryver, Déjà Vu), and Daan (Eliyha Altena, Misfit: The Series).
Despite their carefree lifestyle and extravagant parties, they feel pressure from their parents to live up to high expectations. As a result, they become entangled in their search for true friendship, love, and their own identity.
Following on from the dramatic events in Season 1, the second season continues to follow Louise, Daan, and Alex in their search for love and recognition. Will the wealthy, bipolar Louise choose the sympathetic Daan, the flamboyant millionaire’s son Alex, or herself? Will they be able to escape from the world of destruction in which they grew up? And will their ruthless parents still get away with everything when Alex’s grandmother comes to put things in order?
Returning cast members include Manouk Pluis (#Forever), Ayana Doucouré (Hacked), Kes Bakker (Thieves of the Wood), Jef Hellemans (The Window), Emma Moortgat (The Claus Family 2), Anna Drijver (Undercover), Ruth Becquart (Undercover), Geert Van Rampelberg (Blackout), Ini Massez (Rough Diamonds), Pieter Genard (Ferry: The Series), Jasmine Sendar (Floodland), and Felicia van Remoortel. New cast will be announced in due course.
High Tides is produced by Anthony Van Biervliet, directed by Laura Van Haecke, and written by Luk Wyns. The series is a production by Dingie for Netflix and VRT in collaboration with Dutch FilmWorks and with the support of the City of Knokke-Heist and the Tax Shelter measure of the Federal Government.
Stay tuned for updates.
