Created, written by, and starring Henriette Steenstrup (Ragnarok, Lilyhammer), who won the 2022 Gullruten Award for Best Actor for her portrayal of the titular character, Pørni — also known as Pernille or Pörni in various countries — is a joyful, heartwarming, and relatable series with a dash of humor and chaos.

The Norwegian series revolves around Pernille (Steenstrup), also known as “Pørni,” a middle-aged single mother who faces challenges aplenty while fumbling through everyday life with three teenagers while caring for her aging father and navigating a job within child care.

Said Henriette Steenstrup:

“The initial reception to the first three seasons of Pørni has been remarkably positive and I am thrilled that the upcoming seasons will debut on Netflix – I hope that fans of Pørni will continue to tune in, and perhaps the series will even attract a new fresh audience, who will be intrigued by Pørni’s relatable, but occasionally chaotic, and sometimes cringe-worthy, life.”

Seasons 1-3 of Pörni are available now in certain Netflix territories; in the US, they are currently still on Viaplay. Seasons 4 and 5 will launch globally exclusively on Netflix (dates tba).

Season 4 opens roughly two years after the events in Season 3. Spring is approaching, and Pørni is in a new relationship and enjoying a somewhat stable life — by Pørni’s standards. However, when Bjørnar (Gunnar Eiriksson, Twin) moves back to Oslo and takes over Yngvar (Øystein Røger)’s old chief position, life takes an unexpected turn. Can they go back to being friends and colleagues with the history they share?

Produced by Monster and co-produced with Viaplay, Pørni features Nils Ole Oftebro (Mammon), Vivild Falk Berg (Royalteen), Ebba Bellarubin Jacobsen Öberg, Jon Ranes (Atlantic Crossing), Jan Gunnar Røise (A Storm for Christmas), Deniz Kaya (Fling), and Henrik Mestad (Occupied).

Stay tuned for updates.
