Netflix has dropped a teaser video for the new Danish crime drama series Copenhagen Cowboy. Check it out!
If the entire six-episode series is going to look like the teaser, then at the very minimum, Copenhagen Cowboy will be a feast for the eyes. The visuals are simply stunning.
Created and directed by Nicolas Winding Refn (Pusher trilogy, Drive, The Neon Demon, Valhalla Rising), Copenhagen Cowboy is a thrill-inducing, neon-drenched, Scandi noir series that follows Miu, the show’s enigmatic young heroine.
After a lifetime of servitude and on the verge of a new beginning, Miu traverses the ominous landscape of Copenhagen’s criminal netherworld. Searching for justice and enacting vengeance, she encounters her nemesis, Rakel, as they embark on an odyssey through the natural and the supernatural. The past ultimately transforms and defines their future, as the two women discover they are not alone. They are many.
The cast includes Angela Bundalovic (The Rain) as Miu, Lola Corfixen (My Life Directed By Nicolas Winding Refn) as Rakel, Zlatko Buric (Pusher trilogy) as Miroslav, Andreas Lykke Jørgensen as Nicklas, Jason Hendil-Forssell as Chiang, Li Ii Zhang as Mother Hulda, and Dragana Milutinovic (Outlaw) as Rosella.
The series is written by Nicolas Winding Refn, Sara Isabella Jønsson (Miss Osaka), and Johanne Algren (Kamikaze). It is produced by Lene Børglum (Too Old to Die Young) and Christina Bostofte Erritzøe (Solar Dummies).
Copenhagen Cowboy has its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on September 9. The series will premiere globally later this year (date tba) exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now.) Stay tuned for updates.
