Netflix has released the trailer for its new German Original series Kleo, and from the looks of it, the show, which premieres next month, should be awesome. Check it out!

Kleo opens in 1987. Shortly after liquidating a businessman in West Berlin on behalf of a secret Stasi commando, top East German spy Kleo (Jella Haase, Dresden Detectives, The Team) is arrested, denounced by the Stasi, and even betrayed by her own grandfather.

After two years in prison, the Berlin Wall suddenly falls and Kleo is released. But she soon realizes that the conspiracy against her is much more complicated than she thought, and that an ominous red suitcase is the key to it all.

Kleo thus embarks on a revenge spree that leads her through the anarchic Berlin, improvised electro clubs and Mallorcan fincas, all the way to Chile’s Atacama Desert — with the West Berlin policeman Sven (Dimitrij Schaad, We Children from Bahnhof Zoo, Das Boot) constantly on her tail, chasing the case of a lifetime.

Kleo premieres globally on Friday, August 19, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now.)

The cast includes Vladimir Burlakov (Oktoberfest: Beer & Blood), Julius Feldmeier (Babylon Berlin), Vincent Redetzki (Tatort: Cologne), and Alessija Lause (Tatort: Cologne).

A production of Zeitsprung Pictures, the eight-episode series is created and co-produced by the team who gave us 4 Blocks — Hanno Hackfort, Richard Kropf, and Bob Konrad — who wrote it along with Elena Senft (Der Lehrer). Viviane Andereggen (Tatort) and Jano Ben Chaabane (Druck) are the directors, and Michael Souvignier and Till Derenbach the executive producers.
