Netflix has released a new teaser for 1899, an international period drama-mystery series from the makers of the hit German drama Dark. Check it out.
Multilingual series 1899 follows the mysterious circumstances around the voyage of an immigrant ship from Europe to New York.
The ship’s passengers, a mixed bag of European origins, are united by their hopes and dreams for a new century and their future abroad. But when they discover a second ship adrift on the open sea that had been missing for months, their journey takes an unexpected turn. What they find on board will turn their passage to the promised land into a horrifying nightmare, one exposing connections between each of the passenger’s pasts through a web of secrets.
The international ensemble cast includes Emily Beecham (Daphne), Aneurin Barnard (Dunkirk), Andreas Pietschmann (Dark), Miguel Bernardeau (Elite), Maciej Musial (1983), Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen (The Rain), Rosalie Craig (McDonald & Dodds), Clara Rosager (The Rain), Maria Erwolter (The Sommerdahl Murders), Yann Gael (Sakho & Mangane), Mathilde Ollivier (Boss Level), José Pimentão (Valor da Vida), Isabella Wei, Gabby Wong, Jonas Bloquet (Magellan), Fflyn Edwards (The Snow Spider), Alexandre Willaume (Equinox), and Anton Lasser (Game of Thrones), amongst others.
Series creators Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar, the award-winning team behind the fan-favorite supernatural series Dark, along with several cast members of 1899, feature in the behind-the-scenes/making of video below.
Netflix hasn’t announced the global premiere date for 1899 yet, but you can set a reminder for it now.
