In two weeks Netflix will release Welcome to Eden, a Spanish sci-fi thriller that might make you think twice about accepting invitations from strangers. Check out the trailer.

Netflix hasn’t released many details about Welcome to Eden (Bienvenidos a Edén), but from the limited amount of published info about the show, combined with what one can gather from the trailer, it seems like the series is something straight out of Black Mirror, or a kind of mashup of Elite with 3% and/or Planet of the Apes.

“Are you happy?”

This seemingly simple question kicks off a life-changing adventure for a group of young adults, all attractive social media influencers, who accept the invitation to an exclusive party on a secret island — an event organized by Eden, the maker of a new drink. Here, on this remote piece of heaven on earth, they will partake in an “immersive experience” that will be “the trip of [their] lives.”

And so it is, only not in a way they would ever have imagined…

Welcome to Eden, a Netflix Original series, premieres globally on Friday, May 6, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now.)

The eight-episode series features Amaia Aberasturi (45 rpm), Berta Castañé (Under Suspicion), Amaia Salamanca (Velvet), Guillermo Pfening (Foodie Love), Ana Mena (The Skin I Live In), Berta Vázquez (Locked Up), Belinda Peregrín (Baywatch), Sergio Momo (Elite), Lola Rodríguez (Veneno), Begoña Vargas (High Seas), and Ana Wagener (The Innocent), amongst many others.
