Cherif: Season 3 (France)

Set in Lyon, this addictive, long-running mystery series returns with Abdelhafid Metalsi (Spiral) starring as Captain Kader Cherif, a brilliant and eccentric detective with the Lyon Crime Squad. A local who grew up on cop shows like Kojak and Starsky and Hutch, Cherif knows the city like no other and takes street-wise measures to solve crimes. While this has earned him success and praise with his colleagues, one who doesn’t share their enthusiasm is Captain Adeline Briard (Carole Bianic, Perfect Murders), his ambitious and by-the-book partner. Tatort: Weimar (Germany)

This crime drama is the latest series from the long-running “Tatort” franchise to be shown on MHz Choice. It follows two mismatched yet effectively well-matched detectives — the intellectual and dry-witted Lessing (Christian Ulmen, Berlin Blues), and the instinctive and action-oriented Kira Dorn (Nora Tschirner, The Mopes) — as they tackle criminal cases in Germany’s historic city of Weimar.

MAY 31

First Responders (Åreakuten) (Sweden)

Set in the remote and breathtakingly beautiful tourist village of Åre, this procedural drama centers on members of the town’s Police, Fire, and Mountain Rescue emergency services, as well as the local Doctors ward. Over ten episodes, we follow the lives of doctors, EMTs, police officers, and eccentric tour guides as they intersect during peak ski season, when the town’s population swells from 1,500 to 60,000. While the seasonal population explosion may be the source of dramatic wilderness rescues, the small town has plenty of criminal activity of its own, not to mention the associated communal tension that comes with it.

The ensemble cast includes Göran Gillinger (Beck), Karin Bengtsson (Brorsor Forever), Mårten Svedberg (Johan Falk), Nadja Halid (A Class Apart), and Tiril Eeg-Henriksen (Julestjerna).

All of the above titles will be available to screen on MHz Choice in the US and Canada via the MHz Choice website, the streamer’s Android, iOS and other apps, and on its digital channels, including MHz Choice on Amazon Channels.
