From the looks of the official trailer, Into the Night ramps up the nerve-wracking tension, suspense, and action in Season 2.

Based on the best-selling novel The Old Axolotl by Polish author Jacek Dukaj, Season 1 of Into the Night saw the passengers and crew of Flight 21 attempt to outrun the sun after flying out of Brussels — because the sun had started to kill everything in its path. If they kept flying west and stayed in the dark of night, and worked together, maybe they’d survive.

Season 2 shows they did (well, most of them). The multinational and multilingual group found refuge from the sun in an old Soviet military bunker in Bulgaria. However, their respite is cut short when an accident ruins part of their food supply. Suddenly forced back out above ground, they must travel to the Global Seed Vault in Norway in a desperate attempt to secure their survival. But they are not the only ones with this idea…

For the sake of the greater good, the group will have to split up, play nice with the hosting military crew, and make sacrifices in a race against time…

Into the Night: Season 2, a Netflix Original series, premieres Wednesday, September 8, exclusively on Netflix.
