Today HBO Max released the trailer, key art, and US premiere date for The Immortal, the feature film spin-off from the hit Max Original mafia crime drama series Gomorrah.
The Immortal (L’Immortale) finds the notorious, indestructible Naples mobster Ciro Di Marzio (Marco D’Amore) in Riga, Latvia, where he turns a low-level counterfeit goods syndicate into a major drug trafficking enterprise, despite the incalculable risks.
After reuniting with his first mentor, Bruno (Salvatore D’Onofrio, Il Divo), and receiving his latest mission, an exiled Ciro is left to fearlessly confront whatever comes his way — navigating a new chapter of gang warfare while grappling with devastating memories of loss and trauma.
Weaving between Ciro’s past as an orphan in Naples’s cruel underworld and his present as a hardened, cunning assassin with nothing left to lose, The Immortal plunges into the cold, dark depths of a world where immortality is just another form of damnation.
Based on the book Gomorrah by Roberto Saviano, the film is directed by Marco D’Amore, and written by Leonardo Fasoli (ZeroZeroZero), Maddalena Ravagli (Maltese: The Mafia Detective), Marco D’Amore (The Sweeties), Francesco Ghiaccio (Un posto sicuro), and Giulia Forgione (Inspector Coliandro). The producers are by Riccardo Tozzi (Suburra: Blood on Rome), Giovanni Stabilini (Generation 56K), Marco Chimenz (We Children from Bahnhof Zoo), and Gina Gardini (Romanzo Criminale).
The Immortal, a Max Original Film, premieres in the US on Thursday, July 29, exclusively on HBO Max.
