Netflix has announced the global release date for the second season of its Italian Original romance drama Summertime.
Based on the novel Tre metri sopra il cielo (Three Meters Above the Sky) by Federico Moccia, Summertime returns with its second season on Thursday, June 3, exclusively on Netflix in all territories where the streamer is available.
Set on the Adriatic coast a year after the first season, Season 2 finds Summer (Rebecca Coco Edogamhe, Le château du tarot), Sofia (Amanda Campana, A Bunch of Bastards), and Edo (Giovanni Maini, Nudes) passing their final exams and making plans for the future.
Meanwhile, Dario (Andrea Lattanzi, On My Skin: The Last Seven Days of Stefano Cucchi) is trying to find his own path, and Ale (Ludovico Tersigni, SKAM Italia) is in Spain, struggling with his return to the track and his new love life with Lola (newcomer Amparo Pinero Guirao).
Everyone is discovering what it really means to grow up, and the feeling of love will open their hearts to new challenges.
Returning cast members include Alicia Ann Edogamhe as Blue; Romina Colbasso as Giulia; Thony (Ordinary Happiness) and Alberto Boubakar Malanchino (Back Home) as Isabella and Antony, Summer and Blue’s parents; and Mario Sgueglia (Suburra: Blood on Rome) as Maurizio, Ale’s father.
In addition to Amparo Pinero Guirao, other actors joining the cast are Lucrezia Guidone (Luna Nera) as Rita; Giovanni Anzaldo (Lockout) as Jonas; Jorge Bosch (Criminal: Spain) as Miguel, Ale’s new coach; Giuseppe Giacobazzi (Don Matteo) as Loris, Edo’s father; and Marina Massironi (Agata and the Storm) as Loris’s girlfriend, Wanda.
Also featuring in the new season of Summertime is a cameo appearance by Italian singer-songwriter Ariete. She wrote “L’ultima notte” (now streaming on Spotify) specifically for the series, and her songs “18 anni” and “Solo te” (also available on Spotify) are a part of the Season 2 soundtrack, as well.
