Netflix has announced its acquisition of global rights to the Spanish feature film Hasta el cielo to develop the story into a series.
The Netflix adaptation of Hasta el cielo (Sky High), which was recently released in cinemas in Spain after several Covid-related postponements, will pick up the story where the film leaves off.
Currently in development, the series is a production of Vaca Films (The Mess You Leave Behind) for Netflix, with Daniel Calparsoro (Apaches) and Jorge Guerricaechevarría (30 Coins) taking on directing and scriptwriting duties, respectively, as on the film.
The Netflix Original will continue the story of a gang of young petty criminals in Madrid after the real estate crash. The cast of the new action-thriller series has not been confirmed yet.
The film Hasta el cielo will have its global premiere on Netflix (date tba).
