A new Netflix Original Spanish drama series is headed to the international streaming service: The Minions of Midas from Nostromo Pictures.
Inspired by Jack London’s short story of the same name, The Minions of Midas (Los favoritos de Midas) is a thriller that revolves around a striking blackmail scheme.
Persons unknown make contact with Victor Genovés (Luis Tosar, Celda 211, Take My Eyes), a successful and wealthy bigwig in the world of finance in Madrid, via a wax-sealed letter, hand-delivered to his office. In it is a strange yet simple demand: pay their ransom of 50 million euros.
If Genovés doesn’t pay, those behind the threat — the “minions of Midas” — will kill a random person. And they will continue to kill innocent people until he coughs up the ransom money.
Co-created and co-written by Miguel Barros (Giants) and Mateo Gil (The Sea Inside), the latter of whom directs the six-parter, the series costars Willy Toledo (The King) and Marta Belmonte (Isabel), and features Marta Milans (White Lines), Carlos Blanco (Cocaine Coast), and Bea Segura (Hospital Central).
The Minions of Midas, a Netflix Original series, premieres globally on Friday, November 13, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now.)
