The wait for Kristofer Hivju to return to telly will be over relatively soon, as MHz Networks is set to launch his new series, TWIN, in North America in early 2020.

He played one of the most unforgettable characters in Game of Thrones. And he costarred alongside Peter Haber in the final episodes of Beck.

He is the award-winning Norwegian actor Kristofer Hivju.

Hivju created TWIN with Kristoffer Metcalfe (This Is the World), the series’ lead writer and co-director and Hivju’s buddy since their early 20s in Oslo.

Set in the picturesque archipelago of Lofoten, Norway, TWIN stars Hivju as Erik and Adam — estranged and identical twin brothers living completely different lives in different areas along the coast. Erik is a free-spirited and broke surfer bum, whereas the more uptight Adam is a successful family and businessman.

When Erik finds himself in a predicament, he seeks out his brother for the first time in 15 years. However, their short-lived reunion leads to a quarrel that ends with Erik and Adam’s wife, Ingrid (Rebekka Nystabakk, Home for Christmas), accidentally killing Adam. To avoid getting arrested for murder and to help save his brother’s family, Erik takes over Adam’s identity.

It soon turns out that the biggest challenge for Erik isn’t avoiding getting caught — it’s pretending to be someone he isn’t.

Hivju and Nystabakk give riveting performances in the eight-part nail-biter of a suspense drama, which features Nanna Blondell (Hassel), Ellen Birgitte Winther (Mammon), and Kingsford Siayor (Trapped).

Produced by Nordisk Film Production for just €6.7 million (NOK67.5 million / $7.4 million / £5.8 million), TWIN is one of the most highly-anticipated Nordic TV series both in Norway and beyond its fjords. Directed by Kristoffer Metcalfe and Erika Calmeyer (Valkyrien), the drama was selected for the official competition at Series Mania 2019, where it had its world premiere.

MHz Networks acquired the North American rights for TWIN and will debut the series on its SVOD streaming service, MHz Choice, on February 4, 2020. They will release the DVD on March 17, 2020.
