PBS Distribution is starting its roll-out of Walter Presents programs to PBS member stations and to PBS Passport with the hit Swedish crime thriller Modus.
In the second phase of its partnership with Walter Presents, PBS Distribution commences its regional roll-out of WP’s original-language, English-subtitled international TV shows on PBS broadcast stations this week.
For folks inside and outside KCLS’ Los Angeles viewing area, Modus: Season 1 will also be available for streaming on Passport, the PBS membership benefit, starting tomorrow, Thursday, February 14.
Said Walter Iuzzolino, Curator of Walter Presents:
“This is a really exciting phase for Walter Presents USA and we’re delighted to be bringing the very best in world drama to a much broader linear audience. American audiences have already embraced the best of British drama and now have the chance to discover a whole new world of extraordinary storytelling. Swedish international blockbuster Modus is the perfect thriller to enthrall mainstream audiences and keep them glued to their seats and the first of many Walter Presents premium titles to come to PBS local stations later this year.”
In Season 1 of Modus, criminal psychologist and profiler Inger Johanne Vik (Melinda Kinnaman, The Bridge, The Eagle) teams up with Detective Ingvar Nymann (Henrik Norlén, Johan Falk, Thicker than Water) of Sweden’s National Bureau of Investigation to investigate two brutal murders — one of which was witnessed by Inger Johanne’s autistic daughter, who was seen by the killer. In the first phase of the partnership, nearly three dozen Walter Presents titles were added to the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video channel on Amazon — of which Modus: Season 1 was one. The series’ second season was added in December, and more WP titles arrive on the PBS Masterpiece channel this month.
