Euro TV fans in the UK will soon be able to binge-watch 13 Commandments, a consistent top 10 series on Walter Presents since it launched in the US nearly three months ago.
13 Commandments (13 Geboden), a dark and gritty mystery-crime thriller, was one of my favorite (stateside) Euro TV premieres of 2017.
The series follows a team of detectives from the Belgium Federal Criminal Police in East Flanders as they investigate a series of gruesome crimes based on the 10 Commandments. Committing them is a self-proclaimed, modern-day Moses, whose intention is to jolt society’s conscience and bring focused attention to the values intrinsic within the Commandments, which he sees as having vanished from contemporary life.
Rather than being aghast, the public applauds Moses’ crimes and makes him a social media sensation, thus making the job of the cops trying to catch him infinitely harder.
The lead detectives on the case are Peter Devriendt (Dirk van Dijck, Salamander), a jaded but brilliant policeman nearing retirement, and his ambitious young partner, Vicky Degraeve (Marie Vinck, De Rodenburgs), newly-transferred from the Special Forces squad following a tragic accident. Both are drawn into the near-impossible hunt for the criminal, who becomes increasingly popular despite the cruelty of his deeply-disturbing attacks.
Interestingly enough, Moses obeys the Sixth Commandment of “Thou shalt not kill” (which happens to be the title of another binge-worthy Euro TV series on Walter Presents) during his crime spree. Until he doesn’t…

The pilot episode of 13 Commandments will transmit in the UK on Sunday, 18 March, at 10 PM GMT, on Channel 4. All 13 episodes will be available for streaming on All 4 as part of the “Walter Presents collection” directly thereafter.
