Amazon is debuting the pilot episode of new drama Casanova in little more than a week. Check it out and give it your thumbs up or down for going to full series.
The series that didn’t have a name when Amazon announced it back in April is simply titled Casanova. The 18th-century Italian adventurer and author, though, lived a life that was a bit more complicated.
Filmed in France, Italy, and Hungary, Casanova chronicles a little-known period in the life of the renowned playboy. Exiled from his beloved Venice, Giacomo Casanova flees to Paris at the dawn of the Enlightenment in the hopes of putting his randy reputation behind him. But old habits die hard, and temptation is everywhere as Casanova finds a wealth of new opportunities in the City of Light… and trouble, too.
Casanova marks the television debut of acclaimed film director and Oscar® nominee Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Amélie, A Very Long Engagement, Alien: Resurrection), and stars Diego Luna (Y Tu Mama Tambien, Stars Wars Anthology: Rogue One) in the title role.
Costarring in Casanova are Bojana Novakovic (Shameless) as Madame de Pompadour, Oscar nominee Miranda Richardson (Harry Potter) as Marquise d’Urfé, and Ben Daniels (House of Cards) as Francois-Joachim de Bernis.
The pilot episode is written and executive produced by Stuart Zicherman (The Americans), with Electus’ Ben Silverman (The Tudors, Marco Polo) also serving as an Executive Producer.
Amazon debuts the Casanova pilot on Friday, 7 August 2015, on Amazon Instant Video in the US, UK, and Germany. Your ratings and comments after watching it will determine whether the pilot gets picked up for a full series order as an Amazon Original Series that will be made available to Amazon Prime Members.
