Netflix has dropped a teaser for the Nordic noir series The Chestnut Man: Hide and Seek (aka Kastanjemanden), the sequel to the Danish mystery-crime thriller. Check it out.

Loosely based on Søren Sveistrup’s international bestseller The Chestnut Man, this sequel returns us to that story’s universe, where detectives Mark Hess (Mikkel Boe Følsgaard, The Count of Monte Cristo, Borgen, The Rain) and Naia Thulin (Danica Curcic, Secrets We Keep, The Kingdom, Equinox) reunite to solve another serial killer case.
After a 41-year-old woman is reported missing, the police start to unravel her digital footprints and find that she has been stalked for months. An unidentified perpetrator has been playing a game of hide-and-seek with her, surveilling her while sending her images and videos as well as a seemingly innocent nursery rhyme-style counting song. Then, when the woman is found murdered, it appears likely that this case can be linked to the unsolved murder of a 17-year-old high school student two years ago. The thing is, it’s unknown what the connection between the two victims is. Figuring that out is one thing; answering the question of if and when the perpetrator will “play” hide-and-seek again is another.
Although Mark and Naia are working together again, their relationship is complicated, owing to what happened between them after they investigated their first case as a team.
The Chestnut Man: Hide and Seek, a Netflix series, premieres globally on Thursday, May 7, exclusively on Netflix.
A project of SAM Productions, the six-episode thriller costars Sofie Gråbøl (The Killing, Prisoner) and Katinka Lærke Petersen (Baby Fever, When the Dust Settles). Dorte W. Høgh (Dicte) and Emilie Lebech Kaae (Ragnarok) are the main writers and creators, with Milad Alami (When the Dust Settles) as conceptual director and Roni Ezra (The New Nurses) as director. Morten Kjems Hytten Juhl and Stine Meldgaard Madsen are the producers, Meta Louise Foldager Sørensen the executive producer.
