Apple TV+ has announced the renewal of the German drama series Berlin ER (aka KRANK Berlin), the Best Drama Series award winner at the 2025 German Television Awards.

A gritty, edgy medical drama, Berlin ER revolves around a group of emergency room workers at a hospital in Germany’s capital city. It stars Haley Louise Jones (Dear Child, Paradise, Professor T.) and Slavko Popadić (Crooks, House of Promises, Berlin Legal).
In Season 1, Dr. Parker’s (Jones) life in Munich has imploded, prompting her move to Berlin, where she can start fresh while managing the chaotic emergency room in the toughest and most overcrowded hospital in Berlin. It’s no small task. Then, when she tries to implement necessary reforms, Parker is confronted with resistance from the underpaid, ill-equipped, and chronically-fatigued hospital staff who only survive with an indispensable dose of black humor. But in the face of an increasingly merciless health care system, the battered team members put aside their differences and pull together to save lives.
The ensemble cast also includes Şafak Şengül (Clashing Differences), Samirah Breuer (The Gryphon), Bernhard Schütz (Barbarians), Peter Lohmeyer (Tatort), and Benjamin Radjaipour (No Hard Feelings).
A production of Violet Pictures and Real Film Berlin for Apple TV+ and ZDF, the series is co-created by former emergency room physician-turned-screenwriter Samuel Jefferson and producer Viktor Jakovleski (Brimstone & Glory). It is executive produced by Violet Pictures’ Alexis von Wittgenstein (Oktoberfest: Beer & Blood) and Real Film’s Henning Kamm (Unorthodox).
Like Season 1, Season 2 of Berlin ER will have eight episodes. Season 1 is currently available for streaming on Apple TV+ and the Apple TV+ Channel on Prime Video.
Stay tuned for updates.
