Hulu has set the date for the new German series Sam – A Saxon. Check out the trailer!
From International Emmy Award® winner Jörg Winger, co-creator of Deutschland 83/86/89, comes Sam – A Saxon, a new drama series based on the true story of Samuel Meffire, the first Black policeman in East Germany.
The seven-part limited series follows Sam (Malick Bauer, Tatort), a Black man on an irrepressible search for his place in an intensely prejudiced society. In his fight to overcome the system, he becomes the face of an anti-racism campaign and a symbol of a new Germany. However, his meteoric rise to fame is quickly followed by an abrupt downfall, as he ends up behind bars with German tabloids branding him “public enemy #1.”
Sam – A Saxon, a Hulu Original, premieres in the US in its entirety on Wednesday, April 26, exclusively on Hulu.
The cast includes Svenja Jung (Deutschland 89), Luise von Finckh (Vienna Blood), Ivy Quainoo (John Wick: Chapter 4), Thorsten Merten (Babylon Berlin), Martin Brambach (Tatort), Carina Wiese (Deutschland 89), and Tyron Ricketts (Dogs of Berlin).
A project of Big Window Productions, Sam – A Saxon is showrun by Jörg Winger, who executive produces the series alongside Sebastian Werninger for Big Window Productions, Tyron Ricketts for Panthertainment, and Leslie-Alina Schäfer. Naomi Marne (Deutschland 83/86/89) is the producer. The series was created by Tyron Ricketts, Jörg Winger, and Christoph Silber (North Face).
